This run round the maypole is much better than the lukewarm 2008 edition. By the way, what happened to 2009?
The Good: The stories are good to excellent, the poems are very good again, and artwork is good. I would have paid double the price to get more from Doctor Roth on Bram Stoker; her interview was the jewel in this edition, but only four pages long. The theme in this one is Vampires/Transylvania/Dracula. The Transylvania pictures really added to the edition and the quotes from the novel Dracula were a nice touch. This book is big, good size for artwork and pictures. One of the better short story collections I've read this year.
Things to Improve: While the editing has improved it's not perfect (errors in punctuation and a few mis-spellings here and there). I would go with single spaced instead of double spaced in the next edition--save the planet, less paper, etc. Though it is surprisingly easier to read double spaced, no wonder our college professors had our essays double spaced. Finally, all together this is about novel length, room for a few more stories and poems especially if it is single spaced.
All in all, excellent effort. Made me think of the good old days when I looked forward to short story collections (SciFi and Horror) done by authors who cared about the craft. The slasher film rehash as a short story has been done enough...thanks for not including one in this.
