Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on August 19, 2012

I’ll note that when this work appeared on Amazon, that the story was titled A Succubus Among Werewolves, but the next day the title was changed to its current form and the art for the book also changed. I’ll get back to that later.

I expected, from how the previous work ended, that we might see what Delilah does with her new found powers as a story. What happens when she goes out and uses her powers to get what she wants.

That didn’t happen. Oh we get about a paragraph that explains she was bored with that life and decided to become a bounty hunter, but that’s all.

The balance of the story is Delilah trying to capture a group of werewolves, it goes really wrong for her, and then what they do to her. In the end there is a cliffhanger of an ending which I expected to be honest. See, it’s not that hard to figure out what’s going to happen by the end of a story when the title of it telegraphs the point of the story as much as this one does, not to mention that the story summary tells you the entire story before you see any of it.

I think I know why the title was changed as it was very close to another work by another author, so I can understand changing the title as a result. Still, I think a slightly less obvious title would have been better and I also think that the summary could have been written better too.

Again, as in the first work, there is no description of what Delilah looks like as a Succubus. There is a little bit on what she wears at the beginning, but otherwise nothing much is said about that. We see a bit of her shapeshifting abilities, and we also get an idea of what can be used to… well, I’ll call it, control a Succubus.

It is a rather violent piece of writing in what happens to her, it’s not a good time for her of course as the title hints at. The author again writes well, save for a bit of skimming over details which I personally have a problem with.

However, again, my problem with this work is the price, again I think it’s too steep for what is offered, and the preview again is incredibly short. As such, like the first book, it bothers me. I could have well accepted the price if both stories were combined into one longer offering. I would be even happier if a third or fourth story was included. But that didn’t happen.

I’ll give this work two pitchforks out of five.
