Plot Summary
It still begins with the misadventures of Mai, an exotic dancer struggling to survive in the seedy Shadow District underbelly beneath Liberty, as she sneaks into one of the Hawkmoth Syndicate nightclub afterparties to save her kidnapped sister from human traffickers; Anaya, a techno-terrorist leading a crew of misfits to try and thwart the rising threat of AI in the crystal-powered cyberpunk city of Commune, as she undertakes a mission to infiltrate the Sexbots Inc. factory; and Bella, a newly ordained dominatrix-nun in the Domina Divina sisterhood that rules the gothic kingdom of Dominion, who is recruited by High-Sister Piety to spy on one of the Desert Barons plotting a coup.
However, it now has a sprawling follow-up mission taking place months later, as the trio of hardened and battle-trained femme fatales come together again for a far more dangerous excursion: infiltrating a diabolical gathering of the world’s elite at the notorious Asp Den winter getaway.
As a crystal-fueled conspiracy of mind-controlling sex trafficking and bioweapons experiments unfolds, they’ll travel from the secret posh parties of the Goldsmith District on a luxurious train ride to the Forbidden Crags, where they must seduce and sabotage their way into the heart of a sinister international ring of corruption.
Rojo, the darkly-armored vigilante with superhuman incubus abilities, pursues his own agenda among the shadowy edges, as everything goes catastrophically wrong when the succubus he’s hunting, Escarlata, assassinates one of the nightclub owners, Ghast, at the behest of her ambitious criminal mastermind father Dimitri.
As Mai, Bella and Anaya trek across the frigid mountains of the Forbidden Crags to reach safety and save lives, thwarting dangers at every turn, Rojo pursues Escarlata on his mech-cycle, where he soon learns of her split-personality mental health issues after observing her kinder alter-ego, Esmeralda, leading a humble rural life as a caretaker for a local animal nursery. Not long after, his fateful encounter with the tormented succubus in a wooded clearing surrounded by charred friars kicks off the events of the first novel.
