			Ralph is having a hell of a day, or week, or for that matter, existence or lack thereof. Finding himself passed on, and not having a clue about what’s happening, it’s up to him to figure out what it all means and do something with it all. But no one really is helping and as for Esmerelda, she’s a mischievous succubus with her own ideas and sense of humour.. and Ralph is her target.

			The work is a delightfully complicated story, but with a very strong undercurrent of humour, sarcasm, questions about life and religion, and a tone about everything that sort of settled in a very familiar tone of storytelling that amuses me to no end.

			There’s questions about one’s self, the universe at large, the meaning behind what’s termed the afterlife, and a lot of other various theological and metaphysical concepts. That said, there’s no simple answers, the story grabs you from the start and you have to try to keep up with everything that’s happening to Ralph along the way.

			Esmerelda, the succubus of the story, is just wonderful. I adore her personality, the tease that she is. Any succubus who admits her tail has a mind of its own can’t fail to be just a lot of fun and she is. Something of a tease, a teacher, and a guide, her role along the way is to see what happens, and amuse herself with all that Ralph gets involved in. Whether or not she has the answers, or really is a help, it’s the point after all, it her nature and how that comes out in the story which does and it’s amazingly well done.

			Four out of five pitchforks.

			Just a really unexpectedly fun and quirky story overall that kept be engaged throughout. I’ll admit that Esmerelda delighted me the most, but then she has a personality that just really appealed to me. How things end feels right and complete, but I’d love to see this become a series. It’s fun and a delight and that’s always something to be enjoyed.
