			Catherine’s life is ebbing away and there is nothing that can be done it seems. Victorian medicine is but a myth and perhaps only a myth can rescue her. Lucien might be the answer to what ails her, but he may also be what dooms her forever.

			The work is a very short, what I call a pamphlet, erotic hot flash set in the Victorian age. It’s more a story of the main character falling to the incubus of the work, much of the story revealing his powers as an incubus overall. The erotica simmers, spiking at a few points, but overall it’s less about the erotica than it is about the main characters becoming entangled and dependant upon each other in a symbiotic relationship.

			Lucien, the incubus of the work, is something of a cypher, a mystery that is present throughout, but most of his character is shaded behind the need both characters have. At times a bit frustrated, others very tender and yet when the main characters are entangled, it is their passions that take over all else. Lucien isn’t evil, he’s focused on the need to survive and how to bring Catherine into his orbit for them both to survive together.

			Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

			A very unique work, the story is both mystery and passions which work together well in creating the mood and tone. How the work closes leads towards the next work in the series and I do wonder about that. Perhaps there’s an aspect of Catherine which may be partly succubus in her nature and I wonder about that.

== Plot Summary ==
A terrible sickness has overcome the countryside estate of Clifton Hills Manor, the roads are blocked by terrible snowstorms, and no one can escape. One-by-one, the family of Lord Seymour succumb, until his daughter-in-law, Catherine, is all that is left. As she too, falls ill, and approaches Death's door, a man arrives through the snow and ice offering salvation; at a price.

Now, Catherine is bound to Lucien, an Incubus who satisfies every sensual desire she has ever had in exchange for feeding off her pleasure. She finds herself truly enjoying these acts far more than she ever thought possible, and allows herself to be lost to her dark desires.
