			Our lives are made from choices, not all of them our own. Sometimes the choice made in the past echos into a new life, and another choice to be made. It is not a simple thing, but if the choice is one that makes a difference, isn’t it the right thing to do?

			The work is something of a relationship story which over time turns towards the vestiges of a romance and then a vengeance that allows. It’s a bit awkward at times, both in the characters and their actions, but also in how the story drives the main characters together with seemingly little choice at times. While there are moments of erotica, they are somewhat muted and feel a bit odd considering the events which happen in the story before those moments happen.

			There is an inherent awkwardness in the plot which makes things feel so very odd and, on occasion, wrong for a romance story. It’s one thing to have a reason for something to happen, it’s another when the reasons feel like a deal for a need, not the passion which lurks in the background.

			Kane, the incubus of the story, is somewhat aloof much of the time, awkward throughout, and it takes a long time to turn him from a rather dislikable character towards something more positive. He’s not a stereotypical incubus by any means, there’s a mortality and drive to him which is interesting. But his nature is really not explored, the story leaves him a bit two-dimensional, and I wish it didn’t.

			What seems to be missing is the tone of the story to make this more passionate and needful. It’s a bit too business like throughout and didn’t really need to be I think. I really wanted to see Kane and Jessica’s passions, not the minutia that took the story over and sidetracked what otherwise could have been something a lot more interesting.

			Two out of five pitchforks.

			It’s a very awkward story overall, mostly in that the events between the main characters seem all over the place and the reasons for why things unfold as they did is too odd. Just a very strange story of romance wrapped in emotions that felt wrong overall.
