Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on March 19, 2019
Those things that are unexplained can be found if one seeks them. Be they succubi, monsters, spirits or creatures from another world, it is never certain what comes of such encounters.
The work is a rather confusing mixture of humour, satire, and Victorian theming that goes off in many tangents and directions. It’s just so very odd overall, the stories feel like they lead to a point and the are driven away for something else needing attention.
There are a few passages with succubi, but they are nothing as one might expect them to be. Caricatures perhaps might be the best way to describe them as they aren’t stereotypical or have much in the way of sexuality or seduction about them. They are, overall, so dearly sad things who’s existence is fleeting.
Two out of five pitchforks.
It’s really not much of a work about succubi, they are barely interacted with and even at that point it’s so very much confused. As a interesting piece of satire it’s really very unique, but otherwise there’s not a lot here in the way of succubi themes.
