Plot Summary

Voyaging around the globe to see which monsters are better in the sack is a daunting task, but someone has to do it. Delilah Darcy is half-succubus and just curious enough to try. A haunted corn maze in Kansas draws her attention on Halloween, and Delilah decides to check it out. When she reaches the pumpkin patch in the center of the labyrinth, something spooky and bizarre awaits her. Good thing she doesn't scare away as easily as a bunch of crows… Meanwhile, a dark figure stalks in the shadows, wanting Delilah for his own selfish purposes. Will she give in?

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on December 15, 2019

Vanilla sex just doesn’t do it for Delilah, but then it is so very difficult for a succubus to be satisfied isn’t it. A cornfield calls to her, a warlock tugs on her and what comes next will be both of them in every way possible.

The work is an erotic fantasy with quite a lot of heat, personality and snark that is just a lot of fun from start to the last page. Set in a modern world with supernatural beings, the focus is on the main character as she encounters another supernatural being and what happens between them.

The erotica simmers with the occasional hot flash while still holding over the story itself. It’s not sex for the sake of it, there is meaning behind what happens and as well it seems to have a lasting effect which might come back to haunt the main character.

Delilah, the succubus of the series, is every bit a succubus that craves sex and as much of it as she can get. That would be a little boring on its own, but her character and personality are just fun and amusing in so many ways. Her sexual nature, the teasing, the bits of her past told all create something really delicious and as the story unfolded she was just more and more fun.

It is a bit of a shame that the story really didn’t explore her succubus nature more, or succubi in this story universe. There’s bits and pieces about her that are left aside for the story and perhaps that is something the series needs to touch on a bit more to give her a little bit more depth overall.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

The work closes in an interesting place, but somehow I don’t expect the next work in the series to return to where it started. With that said, Delilah is delightfully snarky and fun, if a bit too self centred really. Still, this was a fun read, the twists and surprises were unexpected and I enjoyed this quite a lot and look forward to what mischief Delilah finds herself in next.
