Nate, was the name of a character that appeared in the Lost Girl television series who was a struggling musician, and at one time was Kenzi's boyfriend. He is human and was unaware of the Fae world. The role was played by the actor Aaron Ashmore. He first appeared in the second season episode Masks. Kenzi was setting up a surprise birthday party for Bo and Nate answered one of Kenzi's ads looking for musicians for the party. The two eventually became a couple through the second season.

His final appearance in the series was in the nineteenth episode of the second season, Truth and Consequences. when Kenzi lied to Nate, telling him that she didn't love him, in order to protect him from the coming battle with The Garuda. Nate left heartbroken and has not reappeared in the series since that episode and there is no evidence that he will in the third or future seasons.

Character History

Second Season

Nate and Kenzi used to be neighbours when they were children. During that time, Kenzi had a crush on Nate, but never revealed that to him. At one point, Nate moved away to live with his mother, disappearing from Kenzi's life, but she didn't forget him.

In the episode Masks, Kenzi was preparing a surprise party for Bo's birthday and trying to find a band or a musician to play for the party. Nate came across one of Kenzi's ads and shows up for an audition. In the time since Nate vanished, he started a music career as a guitarist and impresses Kenzi with his music. Kenzi hires him for the gig and, as well, he draws pictures of Bo and the others at the party which Kenzi gives to Bo the following morning.

He next appeared in Barometz. Trick. Pressure. He visits Kenzi at Bo's home and sings her a song, the lyrics for which are from a note written by Kenzi when they were children. They share a kiss and Nate asks her to accompany him on a tour. After speaking with Bo, Kenzi agrees and they leave the next day.

Both Nate and Kenxi return from the tour in Table for Fae. They go on a double date with Bo and Ryan. The date is a disaster but Ryan tries to fix things and asks The Morrigan, who has the role of a talent scout in the human world, to help Nate's career. Upon her appearing Kenzito meet with Nate is terrified, but manages to get The Morrigan to not take Nate on, saving his life. However Kenzi now owes a favor to The Morrigan, which she can collect at any time in the future. The Morrigan leaves Kenzi to deliver the bad news to Nate and he is devastated thinking his one shot at stardom was lost. Kenzi tries to comfort him telling him he'll have many other chances, but Nate doesn't believe her.

During the episode The Girl Who Fae'd With Fire, a misunderstanding stemming from Kenzi helping out Hale with his father, resulted in Nate thinking that Kenzi loved Hale. Nate was torn over this assumption, but eventually Kenzi explained that Nate was the one she loved and she was only doing Hale a favor after which they reconciled their relationship.

His final appearance was in the episode Truth and Consequences. In this episode, Kenzi broke up her relationship with Nate to protect him from the dangers of the Fae world by telling him she didn't love him. Nate was heartbroken and leaves, believing what Kenzi told him to be true, departing the city and Kenzi's life permanently.

Nate did not return for Season Three and appears to have been written out of the series.
