Plot Summary

Jack Mathers was my first lust. Hot, older, completely off-limits, and out of my league–or so I thought. Turns out the feeling is mutual. Wanting him has never been the problem, my awakening abilities are. When I'm not careful my kiss can kill a man. If I give in to the attraction between us and lose control, Jack will be the one to suffer.

Sexy little redhead Tatum Sterling is a fire in my blood that I can't extinguish, but getting involved with her isn't a smart idea. Not only is she my best friend's little sister, but she also has abilities that could kill me and a tempting price on her head. The money? That would be easy to claim if I wanted to give her up. The woman, however, that’s the real challenge. Bringing her under my control would be the thrill of a lifetime–if I don’t get myself killed.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on July 10, 2022

Tatum has discovered something about herself that’s troublesome. A kiss is far more than a kiss, it can be deadly if she isn’t careful. But Jack is worth the risk, and when she discovers the truth, it might change everything.

The work is a mixture of D/s themes, a bit of supernatural tones and a longing for romance that overall works well. As for being a succubus work, it isn’t particularly so. There are references to Tatum being a succubus, she has some aspects of one, but in this story universe her defined self isn’t quite a succubus, though there are hints.

I get the sense of hints of the Lost Girl TV series in the depths of the story, most notably from Tatum in her abilities. It’s not strongly there, but it did pop up in my thoughts from time to time. That said, she is her own character, with her own issues to deal with.

I’d have liked her to be a bit stronger in her personality, a little surer of herself at times. While a lot of that is trapped behind some of the D/s scenes and character traits, it feels like she could have been a lot more.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

Tatum isn’t quite a succubus, she’s her own being which is interesting. Still there are hints that might be built on as the series continues. I will be following to see what becomes of her, hopefully this won’t take a turn towards stereotypical actions or events. I like the story universe; I think there’s a lot of promise here. Really the questions are what becomes of Tatum as things are told and where that takes her in being a succubus or just something close to one.
