There are mysteries that Cassandra wonders about, not the least of which is what has humanity become since she was last with them. The modern world has its appeal but also it’s darkness and both will make themselves known.
The work is an erotic fantasy adventure in which the main character is a succubus and it revolves around her having to deal with the world around her, both old and new. At the same time, her nature as a succubus drives her to become entangled with many souls, to taste their passions and delight in the desires she can enflame.
The erotica is quite interesting and unexpected in many ways, mainly in how those moments are narrated and how rich the scenes are. There’s also a great deal of character development and exploration that helped to tie the mystery behind the story in a way that felt like it wasn’t at all an info dump.
Cassandra, the succubus of the work, is something of a sexual force of nature when her own needs and desires come fully to the fore. She’s not at all evil, but rather feels a bit lost and trying to come to terms with herself and those around her. Her powers as a succubus are quite present and overall she’s one of the more unique storytelling succubi characters that I have read in sometime.
Four out of five pitchforks.
The story ends in a way that suggests that a following story would appear sometime, but that never happened. With that said, how things do close felt a little rushed with the balance of the story before. A little bit of a longer close, a bit more introspectiveness I think would have allowed for tying up things better than they were.
