Book Review

A temptation offered leads to being touched by a succubus. Sharora needs and desires, but she offers something never revealed to anyone. What happens when a soul gives to their dream and what does the dream give in return becomes the question.
The work is a very short mixture of adventure, magic, succubus erotica with an undertone of female domination. Focusing on the main character and the succubus Sharora who he is connected to, the story revolves around the pair coming to terms with each other and finding what they both need.
Sharora, the succubus of the work, isn’t stereotypical or evil. She is seductive, a bit demanding at times, and is more of a spirit of pleasure than anything else. While her needs as a succubus are clear throughout, she also has a bit of a scheming aspect to her as the story unfolds.
The most interesting part of this work was the mythos created. That said, the way things start leaves a lot to be desired. It’s vague and the how and why of the first encounter was never told well. It’s also a bit scattered around the edges and as for this being a story about a succubus, that really wasn’t explored well.
How the work is written really doesn’t allow for a deep exploration of Sharora, and that’s a bit of a disappointment. There’s a lot of things she does and refers to which suggest something more to her, beyond her needs and desires. That gets glossed over by what happens with the main character.
Overall, while there is some succubus themes and aspects to the story, it’s more of a female dominant story with a mystical and mysterious tone. While Sharora is a succubus, the work really isn’t concerned with her being a succubus. It’s more about what happens to the main character and where that takes him.
Three and a half out of five pitchforks.
The work could use another editing pass, if only to smoothen out the dialogue and breath some needed emotion into the story. It is interesting and offers something intriguing, but there’s bits and pieces missing which would have made this a far better read.
