Daemonophilia is an interactive comic book created by a group known as Tall Tales Productions. They describe themselves as a group of devoted fans of the Visual Novel (or Ren'ai) genre who are working together to create original English language visual novels. Their overall goal is to make visual novels accessible to more people to the world, and eventually bring the experience everywhere. The game originally appeared online in May of 2009 and is still available at various sites on the internet.

The story of Daemonophilia is about a character named Franklin who comes into possession of a book that contains a Succubus named Simone and you make choices that change their story. Generally the story is a comedy although at some points it does stray into some more emotional events and decisions that temper that comedy to an extent.

While the story is linear in nature, there are several points at which the game player can make decisions to alter the storyline. This then directs the game towards several different events and, at the end of the story, a final decision that brings either a happy or sad ending to the game for Franklin and Simone.

Daemonophilia is a risque comedy not recommended for those below 16 years of age. Despite the theme, however, there is no graphic sexual content.

Game Summary

The game begins with an introduction of the main character Franklin and then you progress through a typical day for him at home and at the place he works. Then he summons Simone, the succubus, through a spell in a book he was given. The story then progresses through their relationship as it evolves and you make choices in how that develops. The story comes to a conclusion where you, as Franklin, must make a decision. Which is more important to you? Love or your soul?

Characters in the Game

Franklin

The character Franklin in the game Daemonophilia

Even though he's in his mid-twenties, Franklin has never had a real girlfriend, and with a lousy job in a second-hand bookstore, he doesn't have many chances of finding one. However, some books hold secrets Franklin never thought of, and all of the sudden, his sex life becomes much more interesting--and much more dangerous: What if losing your virginity also meant losing your soul?

Stewart Macguffin

Mr. Stewart Macguffin is the owner of Macguffin Books and is Franklin's boss. He is somewhat gruff, unfriendly and does tend to make Franklin's life a living hell for him.

Marc Fellucile

A character that arrives in the store looking for a particular book one day and in return for something in that book, gives Franklin the book that changes his life. He is more than he appears, as becomes clear as the story progresses towards its climax.

Simone

The Succubus character Simone in the game Daemonophilia

Simone is the Succubus of this game. According to the Devil, she has been a rather poor one in that she has never done her job properly. She is rather timid and shy around Franklin. She appears to be about the same age physically as Franklin, but, according to the Devil and her own comments, she is several hundreds of years old. She tends to poke mischievously at Franklin, his attitudes on sex and other parts of his life. One of her favourite things is coffee and she enjoys that a lot during the story. While there is a certain amount of sexual tension from time to time in her relationship with Franklin, she never actually pushes him too hard in that respect. She does however fall into love with Franklin over time and he returns that love, if awkwardly and unsure, through the story.
