Plot Summary

One of the things that I have found to be interesting is to see when a Succubus, a specific kind, is knocked down a bit. Personally I don’t like self absorbed Succubi that tend to act poorly, do poor things, and most of all, cause harm for really what amounts to no reason at all… Other than they can.
The question then becomes how is that done? How are they either taken, taught, or more often than not, bent to another’s will? Does it make sense and if it does, how does that play out?
Malka is, for lack of a better way to put this, a gold-digger. She’s well aware of what she is and how she gets what she wants. She’s been doing so for a very long time now. She’s a Succubus after all and uses what she is without really much thought to it. She takes from her prey, in many different ways, then quite literally sucks them dry before moving on without a second thought.
That is, honestly, the one problem I have with her overall. She is a Succubus, one that is not quite stereotypical, but there is an aloofness about her that I didn’t think much of. I found myself wondering how it was that she was where she was with the lack of… thought… I think is the best way to put it. She acts, she puts up a very good show, but she’s not all that aware of her surroundings. That, for her, becomes a problem when the person she’s looking for appears.
Paul Bell, the man Malka wants to seduce and control, is quite different from anyone she’s encountered before and in that comes some very interesting concepts about Succubi in this story that I did find interesting in their own right. When he surprises Malka, and it is a surprise, it’s quite clear that she is well out of her league. Being a Succubus and not seeing what is happening around you can cause… problems… as Malka finds out.
Where the story goes from there has a bit of mind control in it mixed with Malka finding that was she wants isn’t going to be as easy as she thought it was. I did like her real form and her reactions to what Paul does, they seemed very true to who she is. The mental shift, the reason for it, and the aftermath all meshed together well and, most importantly, made sense.
But there are questions left unanswered at the end of the story. Really none of them are important to this story, but there are a couple of open paths going forwards that I found myself mulling over. I think the one major one is “Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.”
It also interested me that there were flashes of Malka thinking about her life, how it was different from the ones around her. There was a certain sadness in that which I thought was interesting, but really was passed over a little too quickly for me. That well seemed to be her truth, but then she wrapped it in a lie in order to catch Paul’s eye. Seduction is not what you appear to be, but who you are and it felt like she had forgotten that point. Which really is a huge mistake when you think about it.
A few minor spelling errors and a couple of words that appear in the wrong tense here and there. Otherwise the erotica has a good deal of heat to it, and the plot is well done I thought in where it leads to. But there are a few things left unanswered which made me pause and wonder about them.
I would have liked to see about ten more pages to the story. There is the question of Malka’s real past untold, the question of what happens beyond the end of the story and, most importantly, what happens because of what Paul did and the implications of it. There’s a huge question mark there and the question of what Paul wants, really wants, from Malka isn’t quite clear. There is a D/s theme, there is no doubt, but he’s with a Succubus and in spite of everything, he is mortal… She isn’t.
I’ll give this work three and a half pitchforks out of five.
I really didn’t like Malka from her first thought, so what happens, at least for me, seems to be right. But in the end there’s an interesting question that wasn’t answered and I think that would have been nice to know.
