Plot Summary
John Greenfield is a man adrift. At thirty, he lives in a small village and although he is largely self-sufficient and skilled in both combat and survival, it has yet to amount to anything meaningful to him. He has no real friends to speak of, and can't seem to connect with anyone seriously enough for a long-term relationship, platonic or romantic.
That all changes when he stumbles across an injured, unconscious demoness in the woods outside his village. She is being hunted and, in a risky move, he decides to help her. This decision changes the course of his life forever. As the demoness, Yelena, recuperates in his cabin, the two first begin to lust after each other, then become friends, and then fall hopelessly in love.
But loving a demoness is difficult in a world that abhors them, and where most people will attack them on sight. John and Yelena will have to work harder than they ever have to find a way to live together in this world...
