Plot Summary
Our new home is marvelous. It’s away from the crowded city, and it was priced way below market value, but we have to live with the cuckcake that haunts it. We could move if we wanted, but she’s too beautiful to leave behind. I don’t care if she’s a succubus! I’ll do anything to help her. She can sleep with my husband whenever she wants. I just pray that she allows me to clean up the mess.
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 15, 2022
Heather and Jason have found themselves a home, but there is a secret lurking within the walls. A presence demands something, a need that cannot be ignored. But the truth isn’t clear within the demands they both must accept and the fate that awaits them.
The work is mainly a female dominant focused piece of erotica with a small sliver of succubus themes. Overall the dominance themes are forceful, occasionally tender, but there’s a fixation on one specific theme.
Laura, who is described as the succubus of the story, doesn’t really display the usual aspects of a succubus. She’s strong willed, there’s a point to her being so which makes sense as the story unravels. But she’s more a dominatrix overall, forcing the other characters in the story to fall to her will.
The erotica is a series of short flashes which need more heat than they have. It’s somewhat emotionless in tone, the dialogue lacks passion much of the time. Overall this is the main issue here, a tone of storytelling where the passions aren’t explored. They exist, there’s some points where they start to burn, but the story backs away, the heat isn’t there and the story just loses its way.
The work could use another editing pass to add passion to the words, to bring clear tones to each of the characters as well. While getting to the core of Laura would be difficult, the shifts that come as the story moves to the climax could be better. There’s a gap in her story which needed to be explored.
Two and a half out of five pitchforks.
It’s a bit cold of a story emotionally and that really hurts things a lot. Beyond that, the ambiguousness of Laura leaves something to be desired in the telling of the story. The ending does leave a door open, though that is vague in itself. There’s something here but overall it’s not quite a succubus story and as such I didn’t find my way into enjoying it as much as I’d hoped.
