Plot Summary

The morning after the long magical, Vivian gets a life-altering surprise. The mask had not come off like other times. She was still in her succubus form even during the day. Aethis, the mage, explains to Vivian that she is now a succubus for eternity and her human side can only be a mask. She looks at the leathery thing resembling her face and gets angry at the mage. She attacks the mage, but is beaten and finds herself dangling from the dungeon once again. But the mage wants Vivian’s help. She wants them to unite their magic. That day, the mage shows Vivian an ancient cavern where the trainees of her coven would one day be trained to fight. She explains to Vivian that with her help and magic that comes from her arousal, she can prepare them for battle by the end of the year. Vivian agrees. But there was another part to the arrangement. The mage wants to feel Vivian’s magic too. She wants to feel her animal side, uninhibited. Sultry lust and passion fill the cavern. The mage likes it rough. Vivian becomes her angel of fire. She gives her something that the mage hasn’t had in a long time.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 26, 2022

Vivian has become a succubus completely, the mask now a reflection of who she was. But being human means little now, the power drives her onwards, her need presses on her, But her anger and rage consumes her piece by piece. Can Elvira bring her love back or is Vivian to be lost forever?

Continuing moments after the prior work, the story focuses on Vivian discovering that the mask is no longer needed as she has become fully a succubus, her humanity left behind. What follows is her rage and anger taking over, causing her to lash out at everything around her which drives the story towards a confrontation in the firs half of the work.

As Vivian’s anger takes over completely, she’s not in control and the revelations she has to deal with are somewhat cruel in their nature, but that’s needed to drive things onwards. The single thing that continues to poke at me is that Vivian is called succubus by everyone save Elvira and that seemed belittling which made her emotions, and the situation worse than perhaps it needed to be.

The latter half is futa themed erotica with a very strong theme of domination. It’s a bit too over the top, though there is good reason for why that’s eventually revealed. That said, there’s not much to grow Vivian as a character at this point, the entire scene is there for the erotica alone.

The ending is abrupt and reads as a cliffhanger to the series. There’s a suggestion of what might come next for Vivian, if she can ever be human again is in question. Elvira’s place in Vivian’s life is secure, but it’s the coven around them that brings the question if that will ever be allowed.

I had hoped for something more of a revelation of why all of this happened, and there is a shadow of that in the story. But it’s thin and doesn’t tell much overall. The story universe is complicated without question and getting deeper into the mythos would have added a lot here. While there is some exploration at the beginning, it’s just not enough for how far the characters have come.

Three out of five pitchforks.

Vivian’s story hasn’t come to its conclusion with how this work ended. It’s something of a cliff-hanger that still leaves a lot to be explored and explained. It’s been some time since this work was released and there hasn’t been a sixth work at the time of this review which is a shame. Hopefully there will be, there’s too many questions around Vivian, not the least of which is if she can control herself as a succubus. Hopefully that story will be told.
