Plot Summary

Raygan an alluring succubus, spends most of her time in hell along with the Queen of the Dark World Hecate. Their usual adventures of luring unsuspecting nymphs and sprites into their world and using them as playthings have become boring to Raygan so she decides to go exploring other realms in search of new lascivious pleasures.

The succubus enters a realm caught in the clutches of a post-apocalyptic period, devastation is all around, with few lifeforms in evidence. But Raygan does fine a humanoid female, wearing battle garb and carrying a weapon. After a shaky introduction, the wily demoness convinces Kyno, the humanoid female to return to the Dark World with her.

The two bask in erotic pleasures only available in the depths of hell. The two now seem to have everything they ever wanted. Kyno however begins to bear an aching guilt of leaving her world in the shape it is and convinces Raygan that she needs to return. The succubus agrees and takes Kyno through the portal back to her realm and offers an invitation to return to the Dark World and to the succubus's bed any time she wishes. When they part neither believes they will ever see each other again. They couldn't be more mistaken.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on August 14, 2022

Raygan is so very bored and for a succubus that’s not a good thing. A little adventure might help, it can’t hurt, and it might surprise her. There’s more to the adventure than expected, there’s a surprise she didn’t expect, and what that leads to certainly won’t be boring.

The work is a fantasy adventure with a very strong focus on the erotica. It’s a bit rough, both in tone and telling, which overall takes something away from the story. While the world building tells much and the characters have interesting personalities, the storytelling reads a bit odd and uneven.

That’s mainly in the dialogue, the characters are sharp in their tones and needs which works in the setting. But there comes a point when the erotica’s tone just takes away the heat and there’s not a lot left afterwards.

Raygan, the succubus of the work, is something of a stereotypical succubus. Her focus is on dominance, sex and beyond that not much else matters. That said, getting past the oddities in the storytelling leaves a character that has a lot to offer. Perhaps in that comes what’s missing overall. There’s story to be told, but it just gets buried in the erotica too much.

Two and a half out of five pitchforks.

The work needs another editing pass to make the story flow better than it does. There’s an interesting universe to explore and the characters have merit, but I just couldn’t find my way into the story as I wanted to. That said, Raygan’s story of who she is and how everything came to be I’d have liked to been explored more than the erotica as it just struck me as a lot more substantial and interesting.
