Book Review

The life of a succubus like Alana is filled with desire, need, hunger and having to look over your shoulder every minute. It’s a struggle to survive, to control one’s own nature. To be able to look yourself in the mirror and say you are better than most. Perhaps that’s enough to make a start, or open the door to something unexpected.
The work is a short, but very hot, flash of erotica with the main theme being Alana’s succubus nature and how it presses on her. Through that comes some really well told self-reflection, a very interesting glimpse into this story universe, and something more. It’s the aspect of the work in telling something of the story setting, what Alana and Gabe see from their perspectives that adds so very much to the work as a whole.
The work isn’t simply focused on the erotic encounter, there’s a really explorative look at Alana which works really well to give her character a lot of depth. Through that peek, both at the beginning and end, there’s a real sense of this being part of a larger universe or setting and that really interested me.
Alana, the succubus of the story, is wonderfully sexual and seductive, but there’s also a hesitation in her personality. She’s not perfect, but those flaws mixed with her hunger bring out a far more attractive and delightful character. When her powers come into play, it’s not just a snap of fingers moment. There’s give and take, resistance and submission. It really very well done and possibly one of the most passionate scenes of succubus foreplay I have read.
The work allows the heat to build, come to the edge, Gabe, the other character of the work, to reveal his truth and then the story could have taken an expected turn. But it didn’t. There’s a bond of sorts at best, a mutual respect, in way, that works really well to tie things up and offer something really fascinating to think about.
Four out of five pitchforks.
Where things close, the hints about the story universe that Alana and Gabe are in, really left me wanting the story to continue. There is a real connection made between them, there’s a story to be told. Honestly, it’s the idea of there being a chase leading to something larger that’s very tempting here. Perhaps there will be, it would be a shame if there wasn’t.
