Plot Summary
Owen's mom is back in the dating scene, but there's something strange about her new blonde girlfriend, Lucinda. She's always cranking up the thermostat to make the house unbearably hot. And she's been giving Owen lots of side-eye. When her intentions turn lustful, he discovers her secret: she's not even human. She's a succubus. And he's been her target all along!
Feeding time turns Owen into a girl. But with a magic bracelet, he's able to hide the side effects of his new relationship with his mom's hungry girlfriend. However, when Owen comes down with a sickness only a week later, Lucinda discovers a secret in his family past. She and Owen, it turns out, might not be so dissimilar...
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 14, 2024
Owen doesn’t mind that his mother has a girlfriend, and he really doesn’t mind that she hangs around as much as she does. But Lucinda is a little bit odd and he can’t quite figure out what her secret is. But Lucinda has a plan and being a succubus there’s no question that she’ll make something of it and Owen too.
The work is mainly a gender transformation and self-exploration story for the most part with Lucinda’s succubus nature and needs pushing on where the story, and the main character Owen are taken. It moves very quickly, Lucinda’s reveal of her being a succubus passing by quickly before the two become entwined. Once Owen’s gender transformation comes to pass, the work falls into a lot of Owen coming to terms with his change, how to deal with it, and how Lucinda becomes attached to him.
The erotica is a bit too rushed, the scenes feel compressed where they could have been allowed to breathe and through them develop the characters more. There is heat in the scenes, one of them is really well done, but again the rush to get to the climax, in many ways, just felt odd.
Lucinda, the succubus of the work is delightfully odd and amusing at the same time. She reveals quite a lot about her kind, their needs and along the way there’s some interesting world building about the succubi that comes with this. It feels like this work builds on a prior work by the author in some references and commentary by Lucinda which worked well.
It is a slightly frantic work however, Owen is pushed by Lucinda time and time again. Many things happen to him, not the least of which is finding out what Lucinda’s needs have done to him, and there’s just not really enough time spent to add depth to that part of things and I wish there was.
Three out of five pitchforks.
It seems that the author might be making a loosely connected succubus series and I do hope they will. There’s a lot of mythos being created and tying things together is something I’d like to see. At the same time, slowing down the story to let things unfold and become more of a delight would add a lot too.
