Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on July 21, 2024

It was only a suggestion to go to the club. It was only a thought that he needed to see one specific dancer there. But Jason found he couldn’t get her out of his thoughts and when she called for him, there was no resisting the call. One cannot resist a succubus when she has chosen you and what comes next is anyone’s guess.

The work is a mixture of female dominance, mind control, submission and erotic heat with a hint of succubus themes around the edges that works well in telling the story. It’s well written, save for a couple of word and spelling issues here and there. That said, the description of the main character falling to the succubus of the story are really well told.

The heat mainly simmers through much of the work, occasionally coming to a flame when the main character succumbs and what happens to him. It’s very much focused on a mixture of female domination with a sense of mind control to carry the story theme along. Within that comes something of a mystery about the female character Lilith.

She can be considered as the succubus of the story, at times she is described as having wings and horns and other succubus aspects to her. At other points she is more of a femme fatale which then shifts into her being very much a dominant mistress. All of these aspects offer the possibility of Lilith being a succubus, and that adds a hint of danger and mystery that I think worked well in adding heat.

There’s a question which isn’t really definitively answered and that is if Lilith is a succubus or not. All the hints are there, but it’s really vague which is a shame. She very much acts like one, the hints of mind control and domination are very succubus-like. Still it’s that vagueness which really bothers me overall, there’s really no exploration of Lilith herself, or from her perspective, and I really wish there had been.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

As a story about female domination, mind control or at least something like it, the story is a captivating read. Lilith really needed to be explored more, to show her true self or at least to tell of what hold she really has over others in the work. Perhaps a following work might explore her more, reveal her truth and, possibly, tell of who she really is beyond what’s seen on thee surface.
