Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on January 6, 2019

The work is a very short, what I call pamphlet, erotic hot flash with a fantasy theme focused on incubus erotica. At times really quite funny, others a bit bothersome, there’s actually quite a lot of delight to be found in the story save for a nit that I have with one of the characters.

It’s very much a complete story, the erotica is a bit over the top here and there, a little too porn movie in tone, the seductive aspects of Salliar were a bit crass at times, seeming a little too modern for the setting as well. It does have some interesting world building and both main characters bring a lot to the story.

Salliar, the incubus of the work, isn’t stereotypically evil by any means. He is singularly focused on sex with Harriet above all else and that becomes what defines him as a character. He’s quite crass, very much over the top in his tone and dialogue as well. Once Harriet is in his clutches, she’s very much at his mercy and while there’s heat in those moments, the dialogue takes away a lot from that.

Two and a half out of five pitchforks.

It’s a little bit too repetitive in the dialogue, especially one specific word that kept bothering me. It’s also a little too over the top for my taste, but that’s only my opinion. It is very much a tease and I did like that aspect, I just wish that Salliar was more likeable than he was.
