Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on February 19, 2019
Valentine’s Day brings with it some problems for some. For Kat it’s watching her sister Sienne needing to feed and pushing her to get out and find someone. A succubus needs to feed after all. On the other hand, Mick has to deal with his friend Tom, who is a complete ass. On the other hand, getting to meet Sienne might change everything for all of them.
The work is a delightfully fun and romantic story which tangles the main characters in ways that are unexpected and joyful. It’s not a work of erotica, it is a romance, if a silly and rather complicated one much of the time. The characters are strongly written, the dialogue feels right and overall there’s a sense of this being something like a comedy more than anything else. At least until the characters meet, the passions enflame, and the succubus entanglements are brought to them all.
Sienne and Kat, the two succubi sisters of the story, are cute and their relationship, and mock fighting, are just such fun. They are succubi, but in a lighter sort of way. The dreamscape scenes were really well told, the aspects of their nature as succubi that were revealed are slim on details, but those given are really telling about them both. I do wish there was more told about succubi in this universe, and that would have been so very interesting to see.
Four out of five pitchforks.
It’s a shame that the story comes to a close with so much promise still to be told. It’s the beginning of their lives, and loves, together and it’s a shame that the rest of the story never gets to be told. I dearly wanted to know more about Sienne and Kat, the hints about their nature made more distinct. A lovely read and quite a lot of fun by far.
