Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on March 7, 2025

The quest continues and with all of the challenges so far, a pair of succubi might offer something unexpected. But then the warrior has faced worse before, or has he?

The work is a very short interlude in which the main character encounters a pair of succubi, becoming entwined with them, and then the story rapidly closes before leaving this encounter behind. The erotica is somewhat muted in tone, the heat is barely there overall. This is reflected in the writing itself which is a bit flat and reads as being rather lost overall.

Another editing pass might have added a lot overall, mostly in tone, more depth to the succubi themselves as well. Most of all the ending really needed to be fleshed out more, it’s too short and really is unsatisfying with all that happened between the main character and the succubi.

The pair of succubi, who are never named, are thankfully not really stereotypical. What little is told about them, mostly in their dialogue, teasing and toying with the main character was interesting but lacked heat. Really that is the biggest issue by far overall. This could have been a lot better, the framework was there, but it just didn’t come out.

One out of five pitchforks.

The succubi are just not at all interesting, the story didn’t appeal to me either. Given all else, there’s just nothing here that offered much in the way of a story in which there’s something more than the sex and a bit of dialogue that was amusing at times.
