Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 15, 2018

Fate works in mysterious ways, the past can never be forgotten and the future is what we make of it. We can only see the present and for Gage and Naima, the present both haunts them and offers what both cannot admit to themselves.

The work is a romance adventure between a werewolf and the succubus that comes into his life, the threat which seeks them, and the choices they make. It’s far more a romance than a work of erotica however, the story doesn’t allow for a lot of heat with the internal conflicts of the characters and the threat outside which keeps attacking them.

It’s quite an involved story, the action moves at a breakneck speed and in-between those moments the main characters try to come to terms with each other and that’s interesting to see unfold. It is not an instant entanglement by any means, and it is a bit silly and over the top with those moments, but when each of the main characters reveals their truths, it opens the story to a far more sensual and attractive story.

Naima. the succubus of the story, is the furthest thing from being stereotypical or evil for that matter. She’s very unique and how her powers are revealed as events unfold gives that uniqueness to her. With that said, there’s really very little told about her being a succubus however. It’s more show than tell, there’s little about where Naima came from as a succubus or her family or anything similar and I think that’s a missing part of the story overall.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

The story comes to a close in a satisfying way, though I will admit that I would have liked to see more of the time that wasn’t explored through a time jump. Similarly, Naima for the most part is a mystery, only a small aspect of her as a succubus and her origin was explored. A lovely story, very much a page turner, if needing perhaps a bit more time to allow the main character to become entangled more than they were.
