Plot Summary

He came home to bury his father. He never expected to fall for the creature the land wouldn't let go.

Jack Carver inherits more than a failing California cattle ranch when his father dies — he inherits a land with memory, secrets, and an old wound that never quite healed. Grief-stricken and emotionally shut off, Jack wants only to put the ranch in order and leave the past buried. But Coyote Ridge has other plans.

Marisol Vega is a succubus — powerful, hunted, and tired of running. The last place she expected to find shelter was a weathered ranch and a man like Jack: quiet, grounded, entirely human. She's not supposed to want anything. Not love. Not safety. Not a life. But something in this place, in him, awakens a second heart she thought she'd lost.

As the land stirs and watchers begin to close in, Jack and Marisol must fight for more than survival. To protect her, Jack will have to confront the truth of what lives beneath the soil — and what he’s willing to become.
