Plot Summary

Introducing the first novel in a brand new stand-alone series by Michelle Rossa. A Succubus x mafia hitman bringing you tons of tension, witty commentary, and pages that will have either your jaw dropping or your cheeks blushing.

"I just want a taste." Amelia Beaumont does exactly whatever she wants---including degrading men for a living. As a dancer & domme at her club, she gets to live out her best life doing what she does best: seducing men for a paycheck. Though not many know of her little secret. That she's a Succubus who can lure men in with just one glance. But one night a man catches her murdering a handsy perv, and when he tries to blackmail her into working for him, she agrees only under one condition: until he caves into his desire for her. But she quickly catches herself watching him, admiring the deranged parts of himself that mirror her own. And the more they work together, the more she finds her own desire rising. As the barrier between "just partners" and more becomes nearly nonexistent.

"Let me make one thing crystal clear, Amelia. You belong to me." Levi Lareux takes pride in what he's good at and does it well. Being the hitman for The Deimari Mafia he never minded working alone, until he saw her. He knew that he needed an excuse to be near her, and when he caught her murdering that vile man outside the club alleyway, he knew he had his ticket in. Because he knows her little secret, and he plans to use it to his advantage---or so he thought. He swore to himself his discipline would override her Succubus energy, but the closer he gets to her, the more the business arrangement between them is the furthest thing from his mind.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 5, 2026

Amelia delights in her power as a succubus over others, taking what she wishes and doing whatever she decides upon. Aloof and self-centred, she looks out for herself and heaven help everyone else. When Levi gets under her skin, Amelia may find that she’s met more than her match in more ways than she realizes.

The work is a complex story of two very headstrong and self-centred characters coming into conflict, passion, need and, in a way, understanding as the fates and trials around them both come to pass. It’s not entirely erotica, there are some moments of heat which I thought were well done. But then as well, some of the domination and degradation wears thin as it is so very much over the top and just didn’t work for me at all.

I did read the disclaimer the author placed at the beginning of this work and even with that understood, I wanted to give this work every chance to become something I would enjoy. But I couldn’t find my way past how dislikable the characters are and especially how Amelia dealt with others. There’s a point when abusing others for the sake of it just isn’t appealing, even if it makes sense in the story itself.

Amelia, the succubus of the work, is very grey in her character, not quite on the edge of being evil, but getting very close to being so. Her powers as a succubus, mind control and otherwise, are very much present in the story and in that respect I did enjoy those moments when she was a succubus in control and not turning her aloof nature towards those she was entangled with.

I thought Amelia had some promise if her character would develop beyond what she began as, but really that didn’t come to pass for the most part. We can get set in our ways, and for Amelia it feels like she’s too comfortable belittling others for her amusement. I didn’t expect her to be all happiness and good, that’s not at all what she is. But I wanted to see more of her succubus nature transforming towards being more than where she began the story.

Two and a half out of five pitchforks.

If there is a follow on story, I am a bit concerned that it will be the same themes with the same end results. Developing the characters beyond the surface they show would be nice and I think seeing them become more than something grey on the edge of darkness would add a lot.
