Plot Summary

Give her anything she wants. She'll give you everything you desire.

Celia Underwood has spent her days and nights projecting a rosy, adventurous picture of life on the road through her various social media channels (#VANLIFE FOREVER) and wound up older, alone, and questioning all her decisions. Desperate for a change, she obsesses over Scaley, The Devourer of Souls, a vending machine that promises answers to all her fears.

But inside Scaley lurks the magic powerful enough to change her life forever. Celia's decision to put her life in its hands reveals a succubus, Meridiana. She's powerful. Ancient. Dangerously beautiful. A horned goddess yearning to reach inside Celia's soul and suckle direct from her source. Is inspiration worth the addictive pleasure of Meridiana's touch? The way her voice makes Celia's heart pound? The bargain Meridiana offers her, pleasure and power for total submission, is too seductive to be true. Isn't it?

Celia's about to find out.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 19, 2026

It’s all about the journey for Celia, keeping others interested is so very important in the world she lives in. But a mystery calls out to her, as so many before. The truth is never explained, but a choice made brings Celia face to face with Meridiana and there is no resisting the will of a succubus with a plan.

The work is a captivating story of discovery, need, release and how being needed is something of a trap and a need. It’s very atmospheric, the story immediately drops the reader into a world of the future which has reminders of the here and now, but twisted in odd ways. The focus his on the mystery, of Celia seeking out an answer and when she finds it, that answer is nothing like she expected in anyway.

Over the course of the climax of the story, the heat between the main characters is teased out from where it was lurking. Very sensual and dream-like, it’s a trap being slowly closed around the main character and she can’t resist it.

Meridiana. the succubus of the work, is very much a succubus, a deal maker, a temptress and a dominant force of will. Her succubus aspects slowly build as the story is told, little hints and reflections of her nature and past come out to play as it does so. But she is very much a shrouded entity, her truth is never quite told before the moment passed and the story moved onwards.

In what Meridiana reveals about herself, how Celia falls into her orbit, there’s a hint of darkness, if not quite evil and actually I thought that marched up well with how little is revealed about her and what Meridiana demands and desires. A dark promise is still a promise after all and how that unfolds is really well done here.

Four out of five pitchforks.

The work closes in a place that points at a story to follow and that’s something interesting to think about. The universe is odd, as is the main character. As for Meridiana, she is a cypher really and if that is focused on and explored, it can bring a lot with it. Hopefully the next work in the series will return to Celia and Meridiana and tells of what happened next.
