Plot Summary

Arantxa Peña (usual actress in "atanic" films introduces the "atanic" universe), then three stories play out: Metaminds & Metabodies (1995), a crazy and very violent tale about how a sick drunkard meets a lascivious succubus in a hideous tavern's mirror; Morfing (1996), an Atanes' grotesque trip through independent cinema's sewers; and Welcome to Spain (1999), a bloody and lustful nightmare where people fight for an absurdity: to go up the stairs.

Film Notes

Carlos Atanes filmed a group of strange, unclassifiable short films. These works were a combination of surrealism, rareness, anger and lust, they were, in the director's words, "a thrilling creative freedom." They achieved marginal acknowledgment in Spanish underground circles, and occasionally intense dislike. Mr. Atanes picked the ones that provked the most passion and placed them into this film. Interestingly, most of the shots in Metaminds & Metabodies were filmed reflected in a mirror and in a mirror reflected onto a second mirror.
