Incubus Tales is an online comic book series created by the artist known as Hushicho. The first appearance of this series was on August 11th, 2008 in which the main character of the story, an Incubus named Dhiar introduced himself.[1] The series updates fairly regularly on a three to four day cycle.

It follows the lives of the Incubus Dhiar and his friends and family. He owns a magic shop called Phantasies where most of the series occurs.

The series deals in sexual themes, and there is a good smattering of humor in it, but there is little angst or strife within the stories. It's mainly about the character development of Dhiar and the other characters and their relationships sexual and otherwise.

Interestingly, much like the Realm of the Succubi that Tera has created on her site, the Incubi and Succubi in this comic do not kill those they are intimate with. They have come to understand that they live off of pleasure, so it would be unwise to harm their sources of pleasure. Even though there are less scrupulous brethren of Dhiar and Chana, the wise and older Incubi and Succubi know that however they feel about others, it is better to cultivate pleasure than it is to spread harm.

The series does have scenes and discussions of male/male sexual situations and should be noted as being adult in nature.

Dhiar

The following information is taken from Dhiar's article at the official Wika here.

The Incubus Dhiar from the online comic series Incubus Tales created by Hushicho.

Dhiar (most closely pronounced zhyar) is the main character of Incubus Tales, the titular Incubus and owner and proprietor of the shop Phantasies. He tends to present an upbeat and cheerful personality and optimistic outlook, which occasionally lapses into almost cavalier silliness. However, in the blink of an eye he also may take on an ancient, wiser approach that seems more suited to his long lifetime.

He has black hair, which is not a regular black but a magical sort of black, making it silkier and with a more beautiful sheen. It can, at times, take on an iridescence in certain light. His eyes are deep and dark, but they do not seem to be any single identifiable colour. His skin is pale, but it has a reddish tint to it that most Daemons have. His ears are angled at the tops, again like most Daemons, but his long curls tend to conceal them. He prefers to wear his hair long and can't stand short hair.

Dhiar tends to dress in simple elegance that allows him a great range of movement. His favourite colours to wear are usually shades of red accompanied by black, although he has been known to wear other colours from time to time. He never wears leather or fur, or any other animal-derived materials because they cause him pain due to his inherent telemetry ability. He tends to have a flair for the dramatic in dress, although he does not tend towards the needlessly ornate.

Dhiar's favourite pastime is blending tea. He is always developing new mixtures to sell in his shop, or to enjoy on his own. He also excels at gardening, which is partially due to his natural magic ability.

Dhiar is a vegetarian and a world-class-level chef, having visited many countries to learn about their styles of cuisine. As an Incubus, he does not have to eat food like humans do, since he needs only to consume pleasure. However, because the enjoyment of good food is a type of pleasure, he regularly partakes in it and loves to cook it for others. His philosophy is that giving someone food is like giving them life, so he always cooks with all his heart.

Dhiar is inordinately fond of cartoons, especially classics like Betty Boop.

He is attracted to men, but he has said on several occasions that it isn't a consideration when flirting; he will flirt with anyone.

History

Dhiar came into existence, like all Daemons, in the Abyss, from the fertile energies of his mother Lilith. As all Daemons do, he slowly began to experiment with different forms, at last settling upon his favourite.

He spent some time enjoying the hospitality of Dis and the countryside surrounding, and with his sister Chana's encouragement, who was born at the same time as Dhiar, he happened to meet some of the nobility and was quite well-received for his Incubus charm. However, in time he realized that the life of hobnobbing and acting the social butterfly was not suited to him. Like most all Daemons, he was taken with a certain wanderlust, and a desire to see different vistas than those of the boundless Abyss. So, with a simple letter to his mother so she would not worry, he weighed his options and set out.

After some brief wandering, mainly catching random rails around the many realms connected to his home, he came to a place called Noctemburg. This mostly-subterranean city stretched in a vast spread, some areas strikingly different from others, and some quite dangerous. Nonetheless Dhiar quickly settled into the city's pace and began to show interest in a younger Daemon whom he took as a sort of protege.

One thing Dhiar noticed was that, even in the most conducive parts of Noctemburg to the idea, few adult-oriented shops existed. Inspired by this, he arranged the magical creation of Phantasies, a whimsically-named shop that would stock various items, mainly geared towards adult intimacy. Aware that any good shop needed a special feature, he arranged the phallic toys on a wall very prominently visible from the front of the shop. It gradually received the name of the "Wall of Dildos", and this succeeded magnificently in spreading the awareness of Phantasies.

He was briefly acquainted with a girl who was unsure as to whether she was a ghost or spirit and helped her find her way again, in this city. Later his protege became more independent and more distant from Dhiar, but by that point Dhiar had become interested in a sort of Angel who amused him, as well as another younger Daemon, a dancer at the nearby club. The Angel tried to keep his distance, although he thought Dhiar well-intentioned, and the dancer was quite flighty, coming and going at his whim. Briefly Dhiar dallied with a Vampire, but the differences between them were insurmountable and, eventually, the two parted ways.

For a little while, a detective frequented Phantasies and passed time with Dhiar, but in time his work in the area was done and Dhiar was, again, left alone. The dancer, he found out a little while later, had left Noctemburg to pursue other possibilities in another city. Disappointed by his prospects and discouraged by Noctemburg's slowing in pace and decline in business, Dhiar decided to pick up Phantasies and leave, rather than stay and wait for it to improve.

He travelled more afterwards and, in time, came to regard Phantasies as his home, restoring it and travelling inside it instead. Soon after he came to this decision, Chana came to him and consoled him about leaving Noctemburg. She encouraged him, believing it had been the right choice, and the two decided that she should make Phantasies her place of residence, from which she could freely come and go. On her suggestion, she and Dhiar directed the shop to her favourite place, the world of the perpetual 1920s.

For a time he was content, a bit hedonistic in his desire to heal the emotional damage that had been done by his time in Noctemburg. He came to enjoy Chana's friends, and even met her friend Helen Kane on several occasions. It was a happy time, and the siblings went together to tour Europe, in order to restore Dhiar's panache. But even as he healed, he also found himself falling into uncomfortably similar patterns and decided to take a little bit of time away.

Setting out for exciting-sounding destinations, he came across a Camelot where he was able to assist Morgaine in settling a matter. He invited her to call upon him if she ever had the need, and she respectfully thanked him.

Soon after, he met interdimensional adventurer Hawkye L. Narasumas and was invited to come along and fight a common foe in Camelot. Thinking that it may be the same place from which he had just come, he went along. It turned out to be a different Camelot, but the two bonded as boon companions and fought against the truly despicable foe, vanquishing the threat.

After some wandering and adventuring, he settled Phantasies in a city where he met Joshua, who no longer had a place of his own to live. His previous master had vanished on him, and he was alone and with no-one to care for him. Dhiar took him in and let him live at Phantasies, and in grateful return Joshua decided to do his best work for the shop. Chana arrived soon after, and the two established something like a sibling relationship of their own, Chana being more able to act the role of the older sister with Joshua.

The close-knit family settled into a sort of routine for a while, and Chana developed an idea for them to craft a television advertisement. Although initially unsure, Dhiar was very happy with the eventual result. Chana arranged for a magical tool that broadcast the advertisement whenever Phantasies appeared in a new location, which helped business and allowed them to stay in several places longer than they usually did.

One night, abruptly, Dhiar was snatched out of the shower, leaving a very confused Joshua behind. However, he found himself in Camelot again, summoned by Morgaine, who needed his assistance for her son Mordred. Dhiar had seen him before and been attracted, but the two had never met. After finding suitable attire, he set out to rendezvous with Mordred.

After his adventure in Camelot, he briefly was able to relax with his friend Jenny Everywhere.

Subsequently he found himself fighting the corrupt sorcerer Rehzier at the side of hunky Djinn Lanimaz. With the help of Joshua's keen planning and Chana's charisma, they were able to liberate the kingdom and restore Lanimaz and his beloved brother Opaliz to their rightful ruling positions.

Summoned once again to another world, a slightly grumpy Dhiar found himself swept up in to adventures of Byron and Shelley, a mischievous duo hell bent on stealing a Pettoishi named Picow. With the help of an ancient artifact and some magical knowhow, Dhiar was able to resolve the situation and even to teach everyone a valuable lesson.

After this, a noticeably less gruff Dhiar found himself summoned again, although this time it was to Prince Amaranth's kingdom, to stop the villain Salious and his Ogre Kozul. Drawn into a conflict of greater breadth, Dhiar was reunited with Chana, who had been functioning as the local Seer of the Elves.

With the help of Chana and the young human heroes, as well as the Prince and Moongleam the Elf, the Seer was liberated and the Stone Emperor was defeated.

Working in Phantasies one evening, Dhiar was approached by Dee, an old lover who spent some time catching up on their time together in Noctemburg.

Abilities

  • Dhiar possesses a natural aura that enhances feelings of pleasure and diminishes unpleasant feelings, making most people enjoy his presence.
  • He possesses a natural empathy that allows him to receive impressions of others' feelings in the immediate vicinity.
  • He is also gifted with a kind of telemetry, which enables him to understand and analyse the past (to some extent) of objects that he touches. He can also receive emotional impulses even from inanimate objects. It is because of this gift that he is loath to be in long-term contact with leather or fur, and so they are never a part of his clothing. He is also a vegetarian for this reason. Unexpected contact with traumatic items, obviously, can stun him and disorient him; if the item is unpleasant enough, it may make him ill.
  • Dhiar does not age like humans and requires no real maintenance to his body, since he has a great deal of control over its appearance and structure.
  • He possesses excellent reflexes and superhuman grace, and he is actually more graceful than most Daemons because through his adventures, he has cultivated the ability. He has trained in fencing, whip-handling, and dance, amongst other things. Although he is very knowledgeable about firearms, he finds them distasteful and will not use them, as a rule.
  • Dhiar uses his morphic abilities for various things, although the most regular use is to allow his penis to adopt a circumcised or uncircumcised appearance, depending on the preference of his lover. If he is not in the presence of a lover or someone who harbours desire for him, it will tend to default to uncircumcised. Sometimes, as well, the expectations of others present may influence how it appears. He can also shift its size, but he prefers to do this more subtly and keeps his member at a reasonable size most of the time.
  • Dhiar is able to teleport to Phantasies, as part of his bond with it. However, he uses this ability sparingly and tends to prefer simply summoning the shop telepathically and walking in normally.
  • Dhiar can speak and understand any language that he comes into contact with, although new languages or dialects will take a little bit before he can process them.
  • He is quite proficient at magical studies, but he prefers not to use overt magic if possible.
  • Due to his physiology, Dhiar is unaffected by most temperature extremes. He feels heat and cold, but they do not disturb him as they would a human. He could reach into a fire without harming himself, or stand naked in bitter cold without worry. However, extended such exposure is not altogether pleasant and he tries to avoid it.
  • As part of his Incubus gifts, he is able to undress quickly. This also applies to other things placed on his body, which makes it very difficult to tie him up, for example.
  • He is especially good with pets, by his own admission. This apparently extends to any sort of being regarded as a pet, even Ogres.

Chana

The following information is taken from Chana's article at the official Wika here.

The Succubus Chana, from the online comic series Incubus Tales created by Hushicho.

Chana is Dhiar's sister and a Succubus. She also considers herself a flapper, and it is very well-known to the residents of Phantasies (and regular customers) that she usually spends her time away in a world where the 1920s continued indefinitely.

Her hair colour changes with her whim, as does the colour of her eyes. Like Dhiar and most Daemons, Chana has pointed ears but conceals them with her hairstyles. She tends towards lighter hair colours and exotic eye colours. Her skin, again like most Daemons, has a slightly reddish tint to it, but lesser so than Dhiar.

Chana does not spend most of her time at Phantasies, although she does consider it her home. She has been said to be quite the socialite, familiar with many celebrities of her favourite period. Dhiar has mentioned that he and Chana are friends with Helen Kane, early Hollywood star, singer, and voice of popular animated performer Betty Boop. Chana is something of a social butterfly, but her abilities keep her well thought of by those whom she calls friends.

Like Dhiar, she cannot stand to wear leather or fur and keeps materials derived from living beings out of her wardrobe. She is also, for similar reasons, a vegetarian.

History

Although all Daemons are technically siblings, as all of the Daemons in the Abyss of Dhiar's origin come from Lilith, Chana is a special case where Dhiar is concerned. They are truly brother and sister, and this is reflected very well in their relationship with each other. The two differ in many ways but will always come together to help each other whenever necessary.

They were both born at the same time, although Chana occasionally likes to claim she is the elder sibling. Dhiar doesn't argue because it doesn't really matter to him at all.

In Dhiar's early life, they accompanied each other to Abyssal functions. However, whilst Dhiar found himself unsuited to hobnobbing, Chana found she quite liked it and elected to stay in the Abyss when Dhiar opted to leave. She made many influential contacts and accomplishments before leaving herself, deciding to take a trip to a place that she had heard was especially fun: the Roaring Twenties.

Here she found herself something of a celebrity very easily, for her whimsical nature, strong character, and of course her striking beauty. She knew plenty of interesting people, growing very close to Helen Kane, an actress and quintessential flapper.

After some time spent in this place, in which the 1920s would continue indefinitely, she decided to find her brother. At this point he had left Noctemburg but had not yet met Joshua. His sister's arrival cheered him from his melancholy about having left Noctemburg, and the two returned to Chana's favourite place, spending considerable time there and touring Europe.

When Dhiar decided to take Phantasies and go wandering again, Chana came along and decided to do the same. Although she chose to take residence in the shop, she regularly ventured out into situations that she felt she could make a difference in; as Dhiar has often said, 'she likes to interfere.' However, Chana only does so for good reasons.

She met Joshua shortly after Dhiar took him in, and the two formed a special bond, Chana regarding him much like a little brother and the werewolf acting towards her as he would an older sister.

Some time later, she insisted that Dhiar have a television advertisement made for Phantasies, which proved to be very successful for the shop. She arranged for it to find its way onto local television regardless of where the shop appeared.

After Dhiar returned from his jaunt to Camelot, Chana departed for her own reasons and returned shortly thereafter to assist her brother and his new friend Lanimaz against a dark sorceror. Using her seductive abilities and talent at backgammon, she was able to help resolve the situation with minimal conflict, luring the sorceror Rehzier into high wagers and then winning the kingdom for herself, which she subsequently turned over to its rightful rulers.

For a time, Chana returned to her favourite world, the one of endless 1920s. However, she was abruptly summoned to the world of Prince Amaranth when the Elves' Seer was kidnapped and imprisoned by the Stone Emperor. Dedicating her full magical ability to the situation, she was able to stand firmly against the advance of the Emperor. With the artifacts of the Seer at her disposal, she could look into the future and foresee help coming, and so she merely had to bide her time.

Her brother at last arrived, with the help of several young heroes at his side, and together they all managed to defeat the Emperor and free the Seer. Chana obligingly returned the position of Seer to its rightful owner.

Abilities

Since Dhiar and Chana are siblings of the same sort of Daemon, they possess much the same abilities.

  • Chana possesses a natural aura that enhances feelings of pleasure and diminishes unpleasant feelings, making most people enjoy her presence.
  • She possesses a natural empathy that allows her to receive impressions of others' feelings in the immediate vicinity.
  • She is also gifted with a kind of telemetry, which enables her to understand and analyse the past (to some extent) of objects that she touches. She can also receive emotional impulses even from inanimate objects. It is because of this gift that she is loath to be in long-term contact with leather or fur, and so they are never a part of her clothing. She is also a vegetarian for this reason. Unexpected contact with traumatic items, obviously, can stun her and disorient her; if the item is unpleasant enough, it may make her ill.
  • Chana does not age like humans and requires no real maintenance to her body, since she has a great deal of control over its appearance and structure.
  • She carries a classic Deringer pistol that she keeps hidden on her person, in case of danger. She is a crack shot and does not have Dhiar's aversion to firearms, although she has trained to make certain that her shots are never lethal.
  • Chana is able to teleport to Phantasies, as part of her bond with it. She frequently uses this ability to come and go as she pleases.
  • Chana can speak and understand any language that she comes into contact with, although new languages or dialects will take a little bit before she can process them.
  • She is quite proficient at magical studies, but she prefers not to use overt magic if possible. She is less averse to its use than Dhiar is, and she will resort to it much sooner.
  • Due to her physiology, Chana is unaffected by most temperature extremes. She feels heat and cold, but they do not disturb her as they would a human. She could reach into a fire without harming herself, or stand naked in bitter cold without worry. However, extended such exposure is not altogether pleasant and she tries to avoid it.
  • Chana is very talented at backgammon and other strategy-based games.
  • As part of her Succubus gifts, she is able to undress quickly. This also applies to other things placed on her body, which makes it very difficult to tie her up, for example.

Locations

The information in this section comes from the official Wikia of this series in the External Links below:

Phantasies

Phantasies is a shop owned by Dhiar, which caters to all sorts of pleasures. Within this shop is contained a truly broad range of things, said by Dhiar to help others in making their fantasies come true.

For further information see the official Wikia article here.

Camelot

Camelot refers to a kingdom, which in most realities is or was once under the rule of King Arthur. Commonalities between the realities seem to be the existence of knights held to a code of chivalry, overt existence of magic, and court intrigue.

For further information see the official Wikia article here.

Noctemburg

octemburg is a mostly-subterranean city that stretches for considerable distance. It encompasses several distinct areas, some of which are almost completely isolated from the others. Its location and nature makes it an ideal home for certain types of beings thought of as supernatural in nature, especially certain Vampires who may be affected by sunlight. Because of this, the Vampire population is extremely high in some parts of the city.

For further information see the official Wikia article here.

Adventures

The information in this section comes from the official Wikia of this series in the External Links below:

Introductions

The Phantasies family each introduces himself or herself, for the purpose of a television advertisement. It was apparently Chana's idea.

An Incubus in King Arthur's Court

The sorceress Morgaine summons Dhiar to Camelot, to request his assistance for her son Mordred. Excited at the prospect of meeting the handsome Mordred, Dhiar goes to help him and finds out that his problem is with a certain knight of the Round Table, the insufferably pure Galahad. After Dhiar reasons out the situation with the clueless Galahad, he leaves it to its natural resolution.

Jenny Everywhere

Dimension-shifter Jenny Everywhere has a cup of cardamom rose tea with Dhiar...with a hint of vanilla.

1001 Hot Arabian Nights

Joshua brings back a lamp that he found in the market where Phantasies has appeared. Dhiar rubs it, producing Lanimaz, who tells them of the problem there: an evil sorceror named Rehzier has taken over the land, and his brother Opaliz is missing, having fled when Lanimaz did.

Better Get Some Now

Mischievous duo Byron and Shelley summon Dhiar using a scroll of some sort and ask his help in acquiring the Pettoishi of a boy named Sam. Sam and his Pettoishi, Picow, are found questing for a temple with an object that will enable Picow to turn into a human. Dhiar helps him, but Byron and Shelley interfere and, although Picow becomes human, so do two Pettoishi given by Dhiar to Byron and Shelley. Chaos ensues, and Dhiar is able to turn them back into Pettoishi while Picow remains human.

Hey Nonny-Ah!

In a far-away kingdom, Prince Amaranth's castle is under attack! Scrambling to the sacred chamber, he uses the Horn of Calling, which only seems to produce thick smoke. Salious and Kozul burst in soon after, threatening Amaranth, but Dhiar swings out of the fog, to the rescue.

I Still Love You Boy

One night, whilst stocking and tidying Phantasies, Dhiar greets a guest who turns out to be Dee, an old lover who has finally found him again. The two catch up, reminiscing about their time in Noctemburg, long ago. Dee leaves and promises to return, and Dhiar is lost in thought about the sorrow of something that can never really be fully regained once lost.

Dhiar! AAH!

Joshua is pursued by the Trappers of Kroih and captured. Concerned about his lateness returning, Dhiar and Chana decide to look for him. Chana investigates the palace and meets Dzudz, who promptly helps her to enter into Overlord Dong Krang's harem, while Dhiar hits the bars and finds information about men from Kroih. Misunderstanding, he heads a one-man assault on the quarters of Duke Feirrysh, who is actually there in pursuit of the outlaw Trappers.

Dhiar and Joshua illustrate what to do and what not to do when making an adult film.

Pop Goes the Incubus

Hanabata Jouji summons Dhiar out of desperation, feeling the need to encourage what he calls "member love" amongst the boys of his band, JINBOU. After an initial misunderstanding, Dhiar goes to meet the other members of the band and unintentionally startles Akahori into wetting himself. After dealing with the paparazzi, Dhiar gives him a personal clean-up and helps him to understand his own reasons for acting as he does, encouraging him to embrace his need.

Family

Tenebrare searches for Zelix inside an empty storage room but is surprised by something unseen.

Sayonara Summer is Over

Dhiar makes his way to the train station after it becomes clear that the seasons are changing and summer is over.

Uhr

Dhiar receives a gift from the Nockers, a show of gratitude for being their best customer. Inside the large crate, he finds a clockwork boy made of mythril and activates him. This magical new friend's name is Uhr. However, he is somewhat incomplete, so Dhiar is quick to write for help. Eventually the lad is completed, and Dhiar outfits him and welcomes him to the Phantasies family.

Groove is in the Incubus

Dhiar and Uhr rummage through Dhiar's old comic books, in the storage room of Phantasies. Uhr is enchanted by the Georgie comics, which Dhiar used to read as a young demon.

Dhiar is summoned by Mrs. Bennet, who needs help with her daughters in the matter of gentlemen. Dhiar immediately becomes interested in meeting with Mary, who is said to be the most book-loving one, and the two hit it off. Dhiar has already formulated a plan to save the Bennets' estate, and he enlists Mary as his cohort. Quickly he handles Mrs. Bennet and keeps her out of the way, and Mary then confides in Dhiar what she has learned from the gossips of the town: at Netherfield Park, an estate, Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy has taken up with the Bingleys, Charles and Caroline.

I for Incubus
