Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on June 9, 2013

Hot flash stories are not known for plot, or making a lot of sense, or even, sometimes, managing to keep all of the characters names straight from the beginning to the end of the book. There are worse than that, and some better thankfully…

This work is, quite simply, a hot flash. A little bit of an introduction to Seda, the Succubus of the story, a little review of Succubi and Incubi, and in this story they seem to follow the traditional myth of the Succubus collecting and giving to the Incubus to return to women. That isn’t the point of the story, and really the point seemed to be having Seda have as many men fall to her charms in the shortest period of time possible. So, it’s all about the sex.

I can’t say that Seda is stereotypical as a Succubus, I did like the little bit of background we are told about her, the history she had seen, and the things she had experienced. I did feel that some of the description of her physical form were… well, a bit too unrealistic. She did not appear to have horns or a tail, that I want to be clear on. No, my problem was that, according to the story, her waist was small enough that two hands “could span it.” That brings to my mind an image that is shockingly unreal and with the description of the rest of her body and clothing, makes her seem more sex doll that real being.

It takes little time for Seda to go on her rounds of Los Angeles, to go from bar to bar and club to club seducing men, with a hint of mind control mind you, and then finally end her travels with an orgy. The thing is that I have pause over is that. Apparently, she had never been seen to take from men in the presence of others. I don’t quite believe that as, if she has been in existence for as long as she is said to be, then she must have had at least one public orgy in her life.

The sex scenes are hot for the most part, though I felt that there was a lot of repetitiveness in Seda’s actions. I would have expected something different in each moment from her, but then the need to collect seed and pass it on means that, in the end, there is only one means for her to do so. It’s a shame that becomes the focus of the story really. The action isn’t as important as the build up to that point and that needed some more fleshing out I think.

The author writes well, the work seemed to have been edited well, the story is tight and gets to the point quickly as a hot flash should do. But it is short, which I don’t like, it is about the sex, which alone isn’t enough for me, and it could stand to be about twice the length it is.

Three out of five pitchforks.

More story for all of the sex please?
