(Ghost Rider III#36) - Succubus, preparing to track down Dan Ketch for her master Nightmare, sapped the life essence from boxer-turned-homeless man Henry Bronson, who was living at St. Ann’s Shelter For Homeless Men. After doing so, she apparently crushed his neck, though he didn’t immediately die. Soon after, she confronted Ketch and tried to seduce him, but her touch triggered Ketch’s transformation into Ghost Rider. Realizing Ghost Rider was too strong, Succubus escaped, and returned to the Shelter, where she attempted to drain another drifter’s life force. At that moment, Matt Murdock (Daredevil) arrived on the premises with a box of canned food to donate. He confronted Succubus, who then attempted to drain the life essence from yet another resident of the Shelter. However, this particular resident was Calvin Zabo, the alter ego of the criminal known as Mister Hyde. Like with Ghost Rider, Succubus triggered Zabo’s transformation, and the two, along with a now-costumed Daredevil, engaged in a fight in the street outside the building. Dan Ketch came across the conflict, and when Succubus attempted again to take his essence, he reverted to Ghost Rider. While Daredevil then contended with Succubus, knocking her out, Ghost Rider did likewise with Hyde. Shortly after the heroes departed, Succubus came to, and attempted to finish her attempt at taking the unconscious Hyde’s life force.

Gotta love this series. About 452 new characters introduced, and then left out to the cold without any real resolution.

Succubus, as an agent of Nightmare is most likely a demon like him, just a lower-caliber one. It’s possible she could simply be just a manifestation of his powers doing his bidding, but since it hasn’t been cleared up (and I doubt it ever will), I’m going for demon. Mister Hyde appeared again shortly after, none the worse for wear from his last encounter with Succubus, so it’s safe to assume that her final attempt on him was not successful.

History

In Ghost Rider issue 36, Succubus was sent to track down Dan Ketch for her master Nightmare and in her first action in the episode sapped the life essence from boxer-turned-homeless man Henry Bronson, who was living at St. Ann's Shelter For Homeless Men. Afterwards she apparently crushed his neck with the intent to kill him, but he did not immediately die. Soon after, she confronted Dan Ketch and tried to seduce him, but her touch trigged Ketch's transformation into Ghost Rider. Realizing he was too strong for her Succubus escaped and returned to the Shelter where she attempted to drain another drifter's life force. At that moment, Matt Murdock, also known as Daredevil, arrived with a box of canned food to donate. He confronted Succubus who then attempted to drain the life essence from yet another resident.

However, this particular resident was Calvin Zabo, the alter ego of Mister Hyde. Like Ghost Rider, Succubus triggered Zabo's transformation, and the two, along with a now costumed Daredevil, engaged in a fight in the streets outside the building. Dan Ketch arrived in the middle of the fight and when Succubus attempted again to take his essence he reverted to Ghost Rider. Daredevil then battled with Succubus, eventually knocking her out. Ghost Rider fought Hyde and overcame him. Shortly after the heroes departed, Succubus came to and attempted to finish her attempt at taking the unconscious Hyde's life force.

Later issues of the series showed that Mister Hyde had survived Succubus' attack, but the fate of Succubus was never revealed in the series. Her current whereabouts and other information is not known.
