Perhaps the most difficult thing to be able to control, especially for a Succubus, is their hunger. To not know what it is in truth and then to be controlled by it, to suffer for and through it marks them. It is worse when in doing so that which you find you cannot have, the hunger takes… and you are left to face the consequences of your actions… Alone.
What happens then? Are you able to overcome your needs, fall to them, or worse, have the choice taken from your hands and placed into the hands of others? What, in the end, do you do and whom do you turn to?
There is a rather interesting turn of events for Sarah that is told in this, the second part of her story. It is the question of temptation and what happens when it rears its head and Sarah finds that she cannot do much else but deal with things as best she can. The consequences of that temptation, who she ensnares through it and what happens because of it give some wonderfully hot erotic moments but at the same time the results of that heat, of what happens because of it makes for Sarah at least, a realization that she really has no idea of what she is dealing with.
It becomes more heated when she encounters Alec and finds out what she thought she knew isn’t quite the truth. But then her need gets the better of her and things get out of hand. But, and this is the important thing, she does not follow through will all that she might have done. That I think speaks well to her personality and character and in the end I think that will make the most difference.
There are some very well described and hot mind control erotica scenes. The one with Alec I thought was the hotter because it was more intimate, but the second is quite close in heat to it. The author uses an interesting method to show that Sarah is using her powers to command others and it is something I haven’t seen before. Using red to show when her “voice of power” is being used I think works well. It is not used too much, just at some pivotal moments, and it worked well I thought.
Besides the erotica, there is a lot of world building, especially in Sarah’s life before her transformation that was really well done. In addition there was a twist in the story that connects that world with her new one and where that part of this work goes I’m not quite sure. I have to admit that I smiled when Sarah’s thoughts about her office, the people around her, and what her past was there came out at the beginning of the story.
Sarah’s discover not just of her needs, but, as the story progressed, her first small transformations into a Succubus, both mentally and physically changed her. That’s not a bad thing, I rather enjoyed her Domme streak coming out and really her appearance as that happened I liked quite a lot. Black horns and the description of her wings I especially liked.
Sarah does lose control, and she does something that she will have problems with I am sure, but as well there is, at least for me, an important point. She has regret, she knows what she did, and in that comes a chance to be something more than others around her wish her to be. I have hope for her in that and I think she’ll prove my thoughts right in the end.
This work is quite a lot longer than the first and I think the author adding to this book, making it more descriptive, more involved with Sarah’s thoughts and reactions as things happened instead of reacting really made for a more compelling story.
There is one event in the work that I did question which had to do with Alec. Sarah tells him something, which to me would mean her hold on him… wouldn’t be… and yet Sarah still has a hold over him later on which I don’t think should have been. Call it a question of “following the rules” when it comes to mind control and I’ll leave things at that. A small nit, but in terms of where the story closes, at least for the moment, it needed to work that way.
Where the story closes, the situation that Sarah and Alec find themselves is… not good, but then desperate beings do things that might not be in their best interests. But then one should never discount the power of a Succubus. Ever.

Really a very good, hot, and deliciously told story. Emotionally what Sarah goes through, experiences, and faces is well told and involved me more in her world as it went on. There are still many questions to be answered, and I look forward to seeing them be. The hints so far intrigue me and in that comes a story that I have high hopes for…
