Plot Summary

Poor Lil. Though she has hair the color of dark chocolate, cobalt blue eyes and a lush mouth worthy of Angelina Jolie, she unfortunately takes after her grandmother. And when you have succubae blood running in your family tree, dates tend to start with a bang and end with a whimper. But just when she's beginning to think she'll spend the rest of her life moving from town to town with a trail of used-up, exhausted men in her wake, the carnival comes to town. There she meets Damien, a tall, dark stranger with intense green eyes, dark wavy hair – and a secret of his own.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on August 12, 2012

This story is, of course a hot flash and as such is mainly about the sex and not about the story… Or at least that is what you would expect from the beginning of the story. However, it becomes very clear that Lil, the Succubus of the story, as a past, doesn’t like it a lot, and seems to be bothered by it a lot. That makes me like her more more than I did when we first meet her in the story.

Damien… well, I just have to say that I would have been a bit happier if he had another name as when he appeared I know what he likely was and what he would do considering what Lil was. I didn’t think much of his attitude, which I though was condensing in the extreme towards Lil, but then on the other side of that, Lil’s attitude wasn’t all that much better for the most part.

Hormones are odd things I know, and being a Succubus adds to that, but, from her internal monologue that tells of her past and what she is thinking of her future, it was just wrong I thought in a lot of ways.

There isn’t a lot of actual love in the story. It’s all about the sex for the characters and not a lot else seems to matter. That’s because of their need to satisfy their own urges more than anything else, but when it gets to that point, Lil just loses her personality and that bothers me.

The writer writes well, but I do wonder about the need to put copyright marks behind words like Levi’s. That was a bit jarring and I don’t think that has to be done when you are writing? I’ll admit to being not completely sure about that, but still, it bugged me when it happened.

The sex was hot, if a bit over the top in the internal monologue. I would have liked a bit more story over top of the sex scenes and I think that this story would lead into another one easily enough. I would like to know more about Lil’s Mom, from what little we see of her, I think she has her own story to tell. And I would love to know how it was Lil’s family got entwined with Succubi…

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

It’s much, much better than I thought it would be in the beginning, and there was a happy ending that made it worthwhile, but so many questions left unanswered…
