SuccuWiki Links for Tera because she'll never remember them

Check This Out

So like yeah ... In my quest to fufill my Succubus addiction I found this person https://www.twistedhypnosis.com/xcart/the-succubus-c-266-p-1-pr-16221.html I gues she does like adult hypnosis and in one of them plays a succubus that seduces you lol if were to do a page on that one Where would we put it? :D --Helldaemen 06:47, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Off the top of my head I'm not sure.. Have to ponder that for a bit... Queen of the Succubi

No problem lol

There are much more adult movie pages where that came from !

Spammers are sucky... 1/8/2008

So last night we had 2 spammers from Asia appear and log into the SuccuWiki. They made 2 accounts and then paused for a bit...

I noticed them about an hour after they did so and put their Emails into Google...

And you wouldn't believe the number of sites they have spammed from those two addresses...

Now I don't know if they are automated or real people, so I increased the steps in the sign up procedure with a Captacha and as well a invisible step that will make bots choke.

If this doesn't help, then the next step is going to be to lock down the SuccuWiki completely and force people into requesting an account from me or one of the Admin directly.

Which I don't want to do, but we'll see...

Stuff about Wikis - 19/8/08

There has to be a easier way to enter such things as tables and charts and stuff in MediaWiki... It also bugs me that in order to add functionality to the Wiki you have to write or add code manually and then edit another file to make it work... And I'm not even going to discuss the occasional lack of documentation that some of the extensions have either...

Tera

Spamwich - 22/8/08

And another spammer twapped this morning...

Give up guys...

This is my sandbox and you aren't going to be playing in it...

Episode List Template Example

I've ported a few listbox templates in my time, and I've noticed for some reason they port over to certain wikis rather poorly and often have to be tweaked to look right. It may take awhile, but I'm going to work on this template for awhile and see if I can't nail down how to make it look right on this wiki, but the good news is that I may have already figured out one or two problems already, but I'll get back to you once I finally get it looking better, so don't be surprised if you see me test editing the page with the problem template in the meantime. Once I'm done, I'll get back to you. Arcane (talk) 20:14, 13 October 2012 (PDT)Arcane
Decided to make you a simpler template to use instead of that clunky one you were using from Wikipedia, as this is far less complicated. You can find it here.
If you like it, copy paste the syntax text of the template to a sandbox page and edit it so it has all the information for those episode lists you need dolled up, then once you're done, you can paste that on the page for List of Lost Girl episodes where needed (you'll probably want to clear the talk page and make sandbox pages for this sort of thing in the future), and you can ditch that Wikipedia template and use mine instead since I tailored it specifically for your needs, and I even threw in some documentation to make it easy to use.
Let me know if you need further help, okay?

Exercised my bureaucrat rights, discovered error

Since I have bureaucrat level privileges, I handled a pending user request for an account which seemed legit enough.

It seems to have worked well enough, but I got an error message stating something about the plugin for confirming new users was improperly configured.

If you have an email account that allows for "throwaway email addresses", you may wish to create an email address and then try to confirm there is an error by submitting an account request, then trying to confirm the account request to see if the message repeats itself.

Here's a screen shot of the error (click on picture):

I recommend checking the line of the .php file indicated and looking into the problem, just to be on the safe side.

Just looking out for you, hope you don't mind me confirming that account.

Arcane (talk) 03:55, 20 October 2012 (PDT)Arcane

Ah, good to know you're aware of the problem and good to know it's nothing of major concern. I see that template I made for you seems to be working well, glad to see it was useful. If you need anything else, let me know.
Tip - I tested the latest beta of MediaWiki and it's very buggy right now, so I advise against upgrading right now. I'll test it again when it's finally released officially and give you my take on whether an upgrade would be worthwhile, but until then, I would stick with MediaWiki 1.19.2 for the time being.
Arcane (talk) 06:32, 20 October 2012 (PDT)Arcane
Found a neat solution to seeing those PHP errors all the time. Just insert these lines at the end of your LocalSettings.php file.
/* Disables "Strict Reporting" PHP errors - nonfatal irritating crap PHP likes to whine about*/
error_reporting( E_ALL & ~( E_STRICT | E_NOTICE ) );
Long story short, PHP (the code that powers MediaWiki) gets really anal-retentive if code executes in a way it thinks is wrong but is either correct and it misinterprets the code as problematic, or it uses code it expects to be used in a different extension, and thus gets confused at the overlap and spits back an error message. Inserting the above lines makes the harmless error messages go away more or less by essentially telling MediaWiki "Hey, don't be so uptight about everything". :D
NOTE - This only affects minor (i.e. - harmless but annoying) code errors. Fatal code errors will still be reported (like installation of an extension improperly or if you lack a PHP file it expects to have to load at a certain point). If you are writing your own extensions or debugging, commenting out or removing the above lines is a good idea, but this should get rid of naggy but harmless error messages from now on.

Working Extension:Dynamic Article List

I looked into the problem, and the original version is fundamentally broken due to all the changes they made to the way Mediawiki 1.15+ handles the Recent Changes list. Fortunately, I found the following alternative extension:

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DynamicPageList_%28third-party%29

It has enhanced functionality and offers many of the same features you were looking for in the other plugin. The plugin you wanted to use is based off an outdated fork of the original Dynamic Page List extension, but this should give you most if not all the features you needed/wanted from the original and is stable.

I personally tested it on my localhost wiki setup and can confirm it works fine. It requires some advanced setup options since it has some features you may wish to customize, so you'll want to set it up according to your preferences (see the extension download page for further details).

Hope this helps. Arcane (talk) 00:41, 21 October 2012 (PDT)Arcane

Checked your installed extensions, you seem to have Version 1.5 installed of the Wikimedia variant of the extension. The link I've referred you to is for a third party version that is even more recent and cross compatible, not to mention is much more updated and provides more features and compatibility. Arcane (talk) 07:10, 21 October 2012 (PDT)Arcane

A little something I created I hope you enjoy.

I recently popped by Wikipedia's userbox page and thought it would be really cool if I had a custom userbox to show my appreciation for you letting me be a member of this wiki, so I dolled one up on my user page that shows how much I devote myself to "Lady TeraS - Queen of the Succubi"

Hope you like it. Arcane (talk) 23:55, 22 October 2012 (PDT)Arcane

Since you liked that userbox I made, I made two more, both site related, and I turned them into easy to type templates here for the convenience of you and the other site members. If you want, I can make some more, or if you want you can doll up your own by using the same template code I did, tweaking the colors, putting in the appropriate picture filename (I used pictures already on site), and determining the pixel size you want the picture and userbox (I stuck with 45-50px with the ones I made, just like they do on Wikipedia).
They are mostly something I dolled up so site members could make their user pages a little more interesting and personalized. Hope you enjoy! Arcane (talk) 04:24, 24 October 2012 (PDT)Arcane

Your infobox is ready

I made you the infobox you needed, based off a heavily modified version of the character infobox, which can be found here.

For infoboxes (for specific purposes), you can't just use the base template and change the text. You have to use the base template as a base for an entirely new template (which had to be done in this case), but you can change the text headings of the template.

For this template, I modified the character infobox template to display the information you requested, cut out the unneeded parts, and made a newly named template specific to this series. It's a bit crude, but it should serve your purposes.

Also, to make categories links (by default they are unseen parser commands that add categories to a page), add ":" in front of the Category link, as you can see on the source text of the template I made.

To use this template, copy the source text of the template to the pages you need it (see the top of this page's source text for an example).

Hopefully, that should serve your purposes well enough. If you have any problems with the template, let me know. Arcane (talk) 23:24, 2 November 2012 (PDT)Arcane

I present you your fixed navbox

The problem you had was really simple, but you were already halfway right in how you set it up.

You needed bulletpoints, but they need to be "horizontal" bullets points, which use a different markup than standard vertical bulletpoints.

Specifically, this:

• (open up the edit window for this page to see how the wiki code markup looks)

The "Anbull" between two wiki word items creates a horizontal bulletpoint, and you can check the template you were having trouble with to see how this is done, as I fixed it up for you as an example.

Hope that helps! Arcane (talk) 12:12, 30 November 2012 (PST)Arcane

And I present to you a nice, snazzy looking horizontial episode table with proper formatting!
http://www.succubus.net/wiki/Template:Navbox_LostGirl_Episodes
Enjoy.
As for what I did to fix things, horizontial navboxes like the one I dolled up have groups (horizontal row headers, in this case things like "Lost Girl Season One Episodes") and lists (the list of items for the group). Yet again, anbulls show up as part of the formatting, and while it looks simple, even I think the setup for this sort of thing is really non intuitive (it it makes you feel any better, I nearly went insane trying to figure these out the first time I ran into them), so for future reference just refer back to this template I made if you ever need another horizontal navbox, then just change the navbox header, group names, and the items in the lists for whatever you need, and feel free to add more groups/lists if need more.
If you need any more help, feel free to ask your humble servant for more assistance, milady Tera, but until then, I hope this humble offering is enough.
Arcane (talk) 00:32, 1 December 2012 (PST)Arcane
Actually, you can have in columns rather than rows.
I added a vertical version, and I found out what the trouble was: no "colwidth" {column width) was set, so it defaulted to "colwidth = 10em", or only 10% of the page space would be used by each columns after the content inside them.....and nothing more would be used. Unfortunately, that means you have a ton of white space.
When set to "colwidth = 30em" or each column uses 30% of the page space after the words, it stretches out appropriately. In fact, you could set the number higher, but it will only stretch to fill in the current pagespace. Vertical column navboxes are usually placed on the side of a page, not the bottom, at least by most navbox users, but it can be used in the manner you desire.
I placed a vertical version of the episode list on the same page as the horizontal version, so you can decide what you like better, but you may want to save each version on a separate page for later.
Hope you like what I did, and no, this young incubi's tail isn't kinked in the slightest by aiding his queen in her time of need, and if I helped her wiki with my efforts, I'm glad to be of service.
And, since it's December, for your efforts at making the succubi, incubi, and the numerous souls under your dominion feel welcome, I hope you get something wonderful in your stocking this year.

My suggestions for fixing your thumbnail issues

I've had problems with this myself, and after examining recent changes, I don't believe it's MediaWiki's fault, at least not directly.

Normally, MediaWiki has it's own internal thumbnail maker, but it is so poorly implemented third party programs are recommended to be installed on your server to do the thumbnail conversion, with the most recommended program being ImageMagick.

I have the latest version installed on my computer, which runs a localhost installation of MediaWiki, and I have no problems with thumbnails now.

The server move may have displaced what you use for thumbnailing (I assume you use ImageMagick or something similar), so you may want to see if what you had handling thumbnails on the old server is handling those duties now. Either that or an error in your LocalSettings.php file is probably to blame for your thumbnailing issues, since I checked the pictures you recently uploaded and though they do not form proper thumbnails, they display correctly in fullscreen view, so they uploaded properly, meaning either the server move or a configuration error is most likely to blame.

If so, make sure your LocalSettings.php properly points to what handles thumbnail conversion and that it is properly installed, and all uploaded pictures should fix themselves automatically. You may need to run your MediaWiki setup again just in case to make sure it is properly fixed, but these steps should remedy most issues.

Arcane (talk) 06:56, 13 December 2012 (PST)Arcane

If you've checked all the settings and they were properly configured, then it's probably the fault of hosting service that ported your wiki. Databases tend to freak out when even the littlest server settings are different, and even if you have your MediaWiki settings in order, the MySQL table (the database that collates and organizes the data for your wiki) is probably confuzzled over the move, and you might wish to ask your hosting service to not only straighten out any database issues, but to attempt to replicate all installed settings and programs that were present on your old server setup (the ones that need be addressed by your hosting provider) if need be, and that should probably fix things.

A Christmas present for my beloved queen

I found a wonderful gadget and MediaWiki tweak, that, when combined, make organizing subpages much easier.

First, the tweak:

http://www.mwusers.com/forums/showthread.php?20095-Is-there-a-way-to-add-automatic-redirects-from-Subpages-to-main-pages-automatically

By enabling subpaging redirection, you can navigate between subpages and main pages more easily.

I also found a wonderful Gadget on the UESP wiki that works great with the tweak above:

http://www.mwusers.com/forums/showthread.php?19502-A-guide-to-installable-gadgets-for-the-Extension-Gadgets-extension&p=64685#post64685

I have it installed on my wiki, and together these modifications make keeping track of subpages so much easier, and I thought I'd share as my Christmas present to you.

I hope those thumbnailing issues get fixed soon, milady Tera, but in the meantime, I present the above as my humble gift to improving your compendium on the lore of succubi, and I wish you a very merry Christmas.

Thank you for promoting me to administrator

Thanks for putting your trust in me by making me an administrator. I plan to do my best to make sure your trust in me is well placed.

In fact, I believe I may have discovered a problem in the HotCat gadget, which I am currently looking into. It works like it should for the most part, but just as it's about to refresh and update the page with the added category, it shows a error message with a "0" and nothing else, then when one checks recent changes or loads up the image page in question, the category is not there, which probably means the gadget was broken in the server move or needs an update, which I'll see if I can't fix for you.

Fortunately, adding a category the usual way (adding [[Category:Images]] to the file page) still works normally, so I plan to look into this for you as my first task as administrator.

In the meantime, hope you had a wonderful Christmas, milady Tera, and I hope you have a wonderful new year.

Arcane (talk) 11:35, 26 December 2012 (PST)Arcane

Fixed the Subpages gadget, all it needed was an update, which I obtained from Wikimedia Commons. The Cat-a-lot gadget seems to be broken, as it requires additional javascript files that were apparently present on your old server and not present on this one (which seems to be on Wikimedia Commons as well). I would like to remove it, as I'd rather not complicate your gadgets by adding lots of additional files, but I need to know if you wish me to try getting it work again anyway if you found it useful on your old server setup.
I also got those emails you sent me and have sent you a response.
Arcane (talk) 12:58, 26 December 2012 (PST)Arcane
I examined the information you sent me about your wiki configuration, and I believe I discovered the cause of a host of issues you may be having, and I have sent you an email with my observations and suggestions. Hopefully, I've managed to figure out most of what got broken and how to fix it, but in any event, please back up your LocalSettings.php file before trying any of the suggested fixes and let me know if anything changes. It seems some of your extensions were disabled, so you should be able to see if that changed by checking Special:Version once you've configured things.
I also included some suggestions based on the information you gave concerning your other server problems and have included some information on that as well.

Suggested extensions to make multiple uploads easier

I recently installed two extensions on my wiki for uploading multiple files, and since you occasionally have to upload several pictures at a time, I tested both of these extensions under my localhost wiki, and I believe you would find either useful, and my experiences with both are noted below:

MultiUpload: Adds a "Upload multiple files" option to the toolbox and works well on MW 1.19 (confirmed problems on MW 1.20 and higher), and while it is very simple to use, it has no further updates expected for it on MediaWiki.org and lacks an ability to restrict global usage effectively.

MsUpload - This adds a file upload feature to the Wiki Editor that allows for drag and drop uploading and uploading the standard way. It can also upload multiple files at a time. The original version of the extension is German, but all important functions are in English. It also is only current up to MW 1.19, but it's creator is still active in developing extensions, so it should having a working version for MW 1.20 and later eventually. I recommend this one, especially because it's use can be restricted on a global level if you prefer.

Both can be installed at the same time, have no known conflicts with each other, and neither require database changes or cause problems when uninstalled, to the best of my knowledge.

And before I forget, Happy New Years, milady Tera!

Glad you liked that moveset info

I also found some info on Lilith as well from the same wiki.

It has no licensing information at all, and the information was apparently culled from other sources that are either unlicensed or public domain, so I was going to import it as well, but just to be polite I'll be citing a link to the sources even though they are unlicensed/public domain.

I did remove some information when I did the transclusion, but most of it was information that would be of little relevance to this wiki, though you might want to look over the source of both pages and tell me if I should just port everything over wholesale.

Your new Page Generator, now in two flavors!

Do you find it tedious to have to insert page templates for pages that use many of the same templates by hand, like individual episode pages for the same series? Do you just want to go ahead to adding actual page content instead of messing around with setting up the page layout? Wouldn't be nice if MediaWiki just set up the foundation of the house for you, so you could get on to the business of actually building it?

Well, now you can:

  • Page Generator - On this page, I created a Createbox page, with an input box that will just let you type in the name of a page, and some basic page markup will be added to your new page, so all you have to do is add actual content, save, and presto, your new page is ready!

You can add extra CreateBox inputs with different page templates in the "preload" section and give them different titles with the "buttonlabel" parameter for the different types of pages you commonly create.

Personally, I'd stick it on the sidebar somewhere for easy access if you just want a one stop shop for easily creating new pages with the foundation and some drywall thrown up so all you have to do is add the rest of the house. ^_^

    • Sample Page - This is a test page I created using the Page Generator

Also, speaking of the Multiboilerplate extension, you'll notice at the top of every edit page (main pages at least) is a new input box where you can select a page boilerplate (the basic page template has already been added as an option) to add to the page at any time.

    • MediaWiki:Multiboilerplate - You can add and edit new page templates here, and they will be added as options to the Multiboilerplate selection box at the top of every edit page window.

I hope you like this, and if you need me to make more, feel free to ask, milady Tera.

Arcane (talk) 23:36, 22 May 2013 (PDT)Arcane

Glad I made you smile. In fact, here's a little something to make that smile on your face a little wider:
You'll probably want to add some tweaks to suit your needs, but I included most of the basic elements I noticed on the other episode pages, so all you'll have to do is fill in the blanks. It has been added to both the Page Generator and boilerplate option pages. Also took a look at that other page template you made, and it looks pretty good to me.
Hope it's what you were looking for.
Arcane (talk) 09:25, 23 May 2013 (PDT)Arcane
Glad you like the template, milady. ^_^
You could use a bot program (like AutoWikiBrowser) to auto add the proper templates, but if there is a lot to add, you may want to go over them manually. If it's just a template or two added to the top/bottom of the page, you could just use the append features of AutoWikiBrowser to add everything automatically.
Arcane (talk) 10:26, 23 May 2013 (PDT)Arcane

Added the gadgets you requested

Added the Purge Tab and Navigation popups gadgets, both have been tested and seem to be working fine. Removed the subpages gadget, as it's rather outdated and tends to redirect to error pages if clicked on pages with no subpages (it also doesn't seem to work on many pages with subpages, plan to see if an updated version is available).

Let me know if you need anything else added to the gadgets list.

Arcane (talk) 19:54, 29 June 2013 (PDT)Arcane

That template is actually something of an error in MediaWiki. Anything in curly brackets is interpreted as a "template" in MediaWiki, even if it's not intended to be, unless "nowiki" tags are put around the words in question. This obviously can't be done on MediaWiki namespace pages without breaking the formatting, so the wanted template you see is just a harmless bug due to those characters being surrounded by curly brackets somewhere on the page the "template" links to.
If it drives you crazy to see fictitious templates that don't really exist but can't really remove, you can create the template page, put something like "test" on the page, then add it some category for meaningless crap you don't really do anything with, which will reduce any meaningless wanted categories and templates on the Special Pages reports. Otherwise, you can just ignore it.
Arcane (talk) 12:35, 30 June 2013 (PDT)Arcane
As for adding a category to a template, I usually do put noinclude tags around categories, unless I want to have the category be trascluded into a page by the template itself.

WIP in version of the main page, also ready to help sort and organize stuff when need be

I created a WIP redesign of the main page in my Sandbox. I could further refine it quite a bit with the Tabber extension, because IMO, the current mainpage is really spread out, and it would be better to have the information more concisely organized, so my sandbox has my WIP redesign.

Hope you like where I'm going with my proposed main page makeover.

Also, I'll be willing to work on sorting those page indexes you requested help with when Tabber is installed, just say the word when you want me to begin. :) Arcane (talk) 12:35, 6 July 2014 (PDT)

Okay, finished condensing the main page redesign as much as possible. Not sure what colors you want to use, so edit that to your liking, but I managed to condense the main page down quite a bit. Tabber is slightly annoying in that you can't see the tabs until you save the page, so I had to edit a few times to get that working right. I also had to keep the tab names short to prevent some ugly overlap. Aside from suggesting you take your avatar picture and turn it into a picture with a transparent background (that will make it blend in better with whatever color scheme you want as the page background), this should work fine for you. Arcane (talk) 01:15, 7 July 2014 (PDT)
Alright, did a minor change to the spacing of the tabbers and added a tooltip to your avatar so it shows the same info as the caption did on the thumbnail version. This should be the final version, unless you want to make any other tweaks. If not, feel free to replace the old page at your discretion. Also, let me know when you need your Succubi pages indexed (email me if you have a lot of instructions) and how you would like that done exactly. Arcane (talk) 18:14, 7 July 2014 (PDT)

Began some basic cleanup on the Succubus (disambiguation) page

I used Tabber to alphabetically sort a few of the sections so the same information remains, but is now sorted by tabbers to condense the viewable page size and more easily catalog the info. If you like what I've done so far, it's easy to do to the other sections, but I'd be willing to work on it myself if you like. If not, go ahead and revert to the last revision before my changes.
