Plot Summary
Lishe often endures months of solitude in her secluded cabin in the sacred forest while her lover embarks on far-off adventurer quests. But this mundane existence has its perks, too. The forest’s mana disorients and weakens its succubus travelers, making it commonplace for them to stumble into Lishe’s home in ill health. And Lishe is always more than willing to provide her succubus guests with everything they need to regain their full strength: warmth, rest, and sustenance.
Sustenance, that is, carnal desires.
Relief washes over Lishe when a succubus named Ines strays into her backyard one rainy afternoon—she knew this is her chance to throw a wrench into her monotonous everyday, especially when she learns that Ines has a penchant for utter dominance. But Lishe might have gravely underestimated how voracious Ines’ appetite could be.
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on February 23, 2025
Lishe finds herself being alone much of the time at her little isolated cottage in the midst of a wide, deep woodland. But even so, there is the anticipation of someone in need appearing at her door and she never would think of not helping them. Especially if they are a succubus and they need to feed, for she does so enjoy being on the menu.
The work is a fantasy erotic tale between the main character and a succubus who stumbles into her care. At times so very fun, but as well there’s an undercurrent of need and wistfulness which comes into the story and is played out between the main characters. Very much a series of little hot flashes which unfold throughout, the reflective moments in-between add a sense of the main character longing for their love which then brings her and the succubus Ines together to discover other desires as well.
There’s a strong anime feeling in the setting and characters, which made me wonder about the world beyond which is somewhat glossed over. Similarly, there’s really very little told about succubi, the story moving towards the entanglement of the characters and leaving the interludes something of a question to wonder about.
Ines, the succubus of the work, isn’t evil by far. She’s somewhere between a temptress and flirt which was quite delightful. There are small moments of her dominant nature mixed with her own longing for something beyond the need to feed caused by her nature. It’s complicated but at the same time, the attraction works well to add the heat the story needs.
A lovely story about wants and needs that took some turns which were unexpected. It’s a bit scattered here and there, more a reflection of the main character as things developed, but still a delightful read. I do wish there had been more revealed about succubi in this universe, a bit more story told about Ines as she’s a bit of a mystery needing to be told.
Three and a half out of five pitchforks.
I do wonder what the next work in the series will be focused on, if this will be a series revolving about the main characters with more succubi appearing or something completely new. There is a universe with succubi here, of which they haven’t been explored and that would be interesting to see where the author would take things.
