Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 12, 2019

The book summary tells of two stories in what is an anthology of disconnected works set with different themes and events. There’s a hint of horror in most along with the erotic tones, but for the most part the erotica really isn’t the point in any of the stories. It’s the story itself and the character development that drives everything.

With that said, there are two stories, one at the beginning and one at the end, which focus on the character Janine encountering a succubus and what comes from that and what happens to her afterwards. It’s a mixture of succubus erotica, mind control, body and mental transformations which combined are really fascinating. There is lovely heat, aspects of domination, and the whispers of seductive evil carry through which hints at the succubi in this universe as well.

Janice, who is transformed into being a succubus, undergoes a physical change, but also a creeping mental one as well. With that comes the emergence of her powers, her need, and her hunger. How that changes her by the end of the story is really well done too. She, and for that matter the succubus she meets at the beginning of the stories, aren’t exactly evil, they are more consumed with their hunger and what comes from that is just an aspect overall. Still, they are seductresses, they crave and that tone is deliciously well told.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

All of the story stories are really interesting and any of them could have become a larger work I believe. As for the two stories about Janine, they are the most intriguing of all, especially past her becoming and it would have been interesting to see what happened next, how her personality and form changed further, and what, really, being a succubus in this story universe really means.
