Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on November 7, 2023

It’s one thing to be a pirate and seeking bounty and treasure, It’s quite another thing when Coco finds her way into a place she shouldn’t have gone and steals away Silo from her Mistress. The perfect crime is never perfect and the bounty might be more than she expected.

The work is a quick paced, very erotically hot, fantasy adventure with strong pirate and vampire themes overall. The story is lovingly detailed, the characters are passionate and have depth to them. Beyond the main themes, it’s when Silo reveals herself and her powers come into play that the work delighted me. There’s passion, danger, a bit of mind control around the edges of the work, and a great deal of character development to watch unfold.

The succubus of the work, Silo, becomes the focus as she’s seemingly freed from her vampire mistress and Coco, the pirate main character, becomes her focus. While she has no horns or tail, the descriptions of her powers, to control the passions of Coco, to draw her into submission, and give into whatever Silo suggests, mades her a perfect temptress and seductress.

When Silo’s powers are unleashed, the erotic heat flames, the characters fall into their needs and what comes is wonderfully hot succubus mind control that I quite enjoyed. While Silo describes herself as a succubus, and has many of the aspects of being one, beyond the erotica, her character isn’t explored as much as I would have dearly liked it to be. It’s told in passing as Silo has her way, and before the climax of the work, being something of a tease which would have been nice to explore further.

The erotic heat simmers over the entire work as the characters find themselves entwined and, in a way, trapped with each other. The passions are wonderful, but the underlying heat comes from Silo from the moment she appears to the end, which is delicious.

However this really isn’t a succubus story so much as its a vampire and pirate story with a succubus as one of the characters. Silo is delightfully wicked as a succubus, and it’s a delight when she’s being the seductress she very much is.

Three and a half out of five pitchforks.

I’d have liked to know more about Silo, something deeper about her origin story would have been captivating. A delightful read, much enjoyed, but more Silo and more of her being a succubus really would have been captivating.
