Plot Summary
Brant's always had trouble with the ladies...
...becoming the Wizard's Apprentice is helping...a bit!
Working at Burke and Dunne to pay for college, Brant had always considered the curiosity shop a fun place, where he could unwind. Following the death of one of it's owners, though, things get somewhat more complicated. Dutch Dunne, the surviving owner, seemes to want Brant to be his apprentice...The Wizard's Apprentice. Is the old codger full of it? Brant thinks the downhill slide to dementia is accelerating for his beloved boss, but that was before weird things started to happen to him. Is magic real? Brant intends to find out, but instead of sawing a woman in half, he's more interested in keeping the succubus from doing the same to him!
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 17, 2018
Brant’s adventure never seems to end, there’s always a twist around the corner to have to face. But coming to the attention of the succubi is such a risky thing and even being on the way to becoming a wizard might not be enough for him.
The work follows on from the prior work in the series and soon drops Brant, the main character, into being ensnared by the succubus queen of this series and her succubi. The story moves rather quickly, events unfold, evil comes to visit and, eventually, there is a bit of erotica that unfolds as well.
With that said, Eris, the succubus queen was a bit too stereotypically evil for my liking really. She’s evil for the sake of being so and it feels like there’s a lot of character development for her and the other succubi that gets taken away as a result. Eris overall holds her power in being dominant and evil, pressing on others to do her bidding and as for her being a succubus, that sort of is set aside for the most part and not really explored, both her and the succubi in general, as much as I wanted them to be.
Two and a half out of five pitchforks.
While there are succubi in this story, they are something of an afterthought in the midst of this series. They are part of the story, there is a reason for them being there, but at the same time that feels so very syereortpical and as such seemed evil for the sake of being so. Perhaps they will become something more than that in time as the story progresses, but that will be seen or not.
