Plot Summary

Gustavus is surprised to find that the demon he was sent to slay is actually a cursed angel. The only way to lift her curse? To sin, magnificently.

When their first round of forbidden sinning doesn’t lift the curse, Gustavus has an idea: add old flame Carillae, a succubus, to the mix. Because what says magnificent sin more than an angel sharing a bed with both a mortal and a demon?

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on July 16, 2024

The quests that Gustavus finds himself on can be a surprise and encountering a trapped and cursed angel might be one of the odder ones. Still, he is a hero and there is a maiden needing to be saved. If that takes asking a certain succubus for some help, nothing could possibly go wrong could it?

Continuing on from the prior work sometime later, the focus is on Gustavus becoming more than intimate with an angel and then, failing to break her curse, summoning the succubus Carillae to assist. There’s a bit of world building around the edges, but the story mainly focuses on the angel’s situation and how she and Gustavus become entwined. There’s lovely heat in those scenes, but when Carillae appears. and takes control of them both to her own desires, temptation and seduction, is where the erotic heat blossoms and the real fun of the story appears.

Carillae remains something of a mystery here, much like the first stary, but her nature as a succubus, her delight in having her way with the angel, in every way possible, is some really well told succubus erotica. Her dominant nature works really well in this story and offers, possibly, an interesting plot point in the future with the angel too.

Every bit as much fun as the first work, the characters are amazing and the story’s heat is wonderful. Much like the first work however, I still want to know a lot more about Carillae, what she’s doing elsewhere in this universe when she’s not needed. She’s fascinating to me and there’s a lot of story, universe and otherwise, that could come from exploring her nature and character more. Perhaps that will happen in time.

Four out of five pitchforks.

The series feels like it might be gaining a little bit of a harem theme to it, but slightly different in tone. Gustavus has means to call on two temptresses and that’s interesting. But what is more so is that they aren’t beholden to him. They delight in being entwined with him, but he’s not their owner. I honestly like that better as a harem story as otherwise there would be a lot of fawning over him and if that happened it would really go against what’s been told before.

We shall see what comes next, hopefully there will be more in this story universe. It’s the what comes next that fascinates me and the stories untold can offer a lot beyond the erotica itself. Story and characters matter and in these two works, that’s very much taken to heart.
