Plot Summary
Why choose between a lustful incubus or a powerful troll? Sexy sorceress Ceridwyn is off on another adventure to take care of a troll in the town of Harst: stop the troll waylaying travellers, and make some coin. But on the road to town, her spell to summon some companionship one lonely night accidentally attracts a powerful incubus who can read her mind. However, the local authorities might not find him so irresistible as Wyn does ... Together they set off in search of her problem troll, but he’s nothing like what she expected, and he’s got some surprises of his own besides - and a tale to tell. Oh, and then there’s that dragon… Will Ceridwyn make coin, love, or both? Why choose?
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on January 31, 2021
Ceridwyn does love adventure and if along the way she finds others to love, that’s not the worst thing for an adventurer to discover. But sometimes the adventure has a twist to be found and when that is an incubus, who is Ceridwyn to ignore the desires released and discovered once more.
The work is a fantasy adventure with a bit of erotica around the edges to add a bit of heat and passion between the characters. It’s not focused on the erotica however, the plot, story and characters matter very much beyond the entanglements themselves. The main character isn’t a damsel in distress, she’s headstrong with a will to match and yet at the same time her sexuality is the match of all she encounters, which is just a lot of fun.
Malphas, the incubus of the work, isn’t evil or stereotypical by any means. He’s very much the match of Ceridwyn in many respects, but at the same time he’s not overbearing or controlling the story. He’s part of what happens, adds spice and flair to the events, and can be so dearly amusing at times as well. He’s very much an incubus, the sex is part of who he is, but it doesn’t control him in the story either and I enjoyed his character arc very much as a result.
Three and a half out of five pitchforks.
The work ends in a way that naturally would have led to the next work in the series, but that never happened. It’s a shame really, Ceridwyn is a lovely character, adorable really in a lot of ways in personality and more. There were a lot of dangling plot threads as well to explore and Malphas would have been fun to encounter again. such to wonder about and wish the it could have been.
