Plot Summary

When the time comes to face your destiny…

Embracing the Succubus (nemeses, dark fantasy, erotic, LGBTQ+)

Zain Justice was ten years old when he became a succubus hunter, joining his father and uncles, all coming from a long line of succubus hunters. But when he is finally captured by his foe, Khari, a succubus he’s been tracking since it seems like forever, Zain learns things about his adversary and himself that completely changes the complexion of their relationship and especially Zain’s view of himself and his family’s history.

The Fall of Summer (shapeshifter, grimdark, dark fantasy, LGBTQ+)

Drayce Wyvern has always known he was adopted as an infant and shortly after the death of his mother, but had never questioned the exact circumstances. Then an exotic stranger’s sudden arrival presages four crazy events in quick succession. Dangerously ignorant of his heritage and powers, Drayce is a sitting duck for Ryu Long of the anime-hero looks and the prophecy-spouting tongue.

Possession is Nine Tails (shapeshifter, dark fantasy, erotic, MF)

A young wife and mother in failing health is forever changed after getting a routine mani-pedi during a working vacation with her handsome surgeon husband. A creature who thinks it has the upper hand has met her match, however, when the husband uncovers the truth about his wife’s transformation and takes the appropriate measures. But a child may be the one to lead the way for these two adults on a collision course with vengeance and satiation.

Price to Pay (dark fantasy)

Twin brothers Kamal and Khaled couldn’t be more different from each other and are on opposite paths in life. Their unbreakable familial bond, however, is tested when the truth about their heritage is uncovered after one of them is injured during a trip abroad.

And more stories of multi-ethnic, cross-genre erotic romance, adventure and heartbreak, all with a supernatural twist.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on December 22, 2024

Zain hunts succubi, it’s what his life has lead to, and the one succubus that keeps escaping is Khari. It’s a cat and mouse game with an edge to it that Zain cannot explain. But the truth will come out, the reality will be impossible to ignore and his past will return to shatter all he knew before.

The work tells a very complicated story between the main characters, the truth behind the succubi, and perhaps more involving is the truth of Zain’s family, what happened in the past, and what his future will become. While there are a scattering of erotic scenes, some with mind control, others hinting at Khari’s powers as a succubus, the exploration of what Zain’s sexual nature is, they are more window dressing to the core story being told.

It’s very much a game between the characters, and when the truth comes out, it’s unexpected, but makes a lot of sense. Where the story took an odd turn was the reaction of Zain’s family in the aftermath, the odd way they responded to him finding out the truth. I’m not sure that worked as well as it could, it just felt a bit odd.

Khari, the succubus of the story, isn’t stereotypical or evil. She’ a temptation, a flirt and very sexually driven. But with that comes a need to somehow get through to Zain, to have him see the truth and understand it. The display of her mind control, shape shifting and other succubus powers added a lot to her and the story, but I would have liked to know more about her.

That’s the one real thing about this story, there’s a lot of threads left untouched, questions left to the side. It’s that mystery that I found the most delightful and I wanted to know more of how everything started for the two, what triggered the chase and why Zain can’t walk away from Khari.

Three out of five pitchforks.

The ending leaves a lot of questions to consider and the two characters still at something of a crossroads. I think this would make for an opening chapter of a novel, it does hook the reader’s attention and leaves you wanting to see what comes next. That’s something I think really needs to be told all things considered here.

For the anthology as a whole, three and a half out of five pitchforks.

There are so many interesting stories here which really should be transformed into larger novels. It all feels very much like a tease of greater things and perhaps the author will take some of these works and build upon them. I think that’s something to consider as all of the stories feel like there are open threads to explore when they come to a close. A lovely read with delightfully involving stories of which I really would like to see something more of sometime.
