Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on December 27, 2022
It was only supposed to be a joke for Halloween. It only was supposed to be a costume and nothing more. But it is Halloween and mysterious things happen sometimes. This particular Halloween, Raylin could find his world forever changed and she’ll become a new succubus brought into the world.
The work is a delightful mixture of transformation, gender change, domination and an erotic theme that’s deeply seductive and carries a lot of heat. It’s something of a slow burn in the telling of the story, the changes that Raylin passes through and everything that happens to him. The point when he becomes a succubus isn’t a single moment and that worked really well to breath life into what otherwise could have been far less.
Raylin, the main character of the work, is transformed from himself into a fully fledged succubus by the end of the story. It’s not a change that happens off the page nor is it a shift in character that happens in a page or two. There’s a tremendously well told fall for him, both in form and mentally, that just works really well.
Past the gender transformation, Raylin as a succubus is a very dominant and powerful creature who delights in her sexuality but also falls bit by bit into being something evil in her new form. That works well, mainly in that she’s an evil seductress, drawing her prey to her. What comes after is the telling of submitting to her needs and where that takes her.
The heat simmers throughout, the erotica is more about the seduction and mind control Raylin has which then brings about the erotic scenes that work really well as telling about her thoughts and what she does as a succubus. Overall, that is what works best here, Raylin’s fall, her becoming, and the tease at the end of the work that was quite fitting overall.
Four out of five pitchforks.
The transformation aspects of the story are really well done. Both the physical and mental shifting towards Raylin tell a very good story. The work ends on something of a evil tone, though that was telegraphed through the changes that Raylin passed through. There is I think a lot left not explored here, the ending offers that. Perhaps the author will consider a follow on story of Raylin battling her nature or completely falling to it. Either would tie things up for her, which interests me.
