Plot Summary
Britt awoke in the morning, muzzy-headed from last night's wine and more than a little disquieted by the dim recollection of a strange dream. Her sheets were a twisted mess and damp from sweat and something she was reluctant to investigate. An inexplicable post-coital funk hung in the air. She found herself naked and her nightie lay in a heap in the corner. She never slept naked. Must have been some dream, she thought.
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on February 20, 2026
There is a veil of mystery set about Britt, questions that whisper and draw her into the arms of one that may have the answers she needs. The truth is complicated, it always is and it is more so when that truth brings you to be a succubus.
The work is a coming of age transformation story with a complex plot, very complex characters, and a bit of erotic moments here and there to add heat overall. It hovers between a fantasy and a mystery at times which makes the story a bit convoluted overall. At the same time there is a lot of character development that takes place over the stry and that was interesting to see unfold.
Britt, the main character, is transformed into being a kind of succubus in the work, and along the way other succubi characters appear as well. There are little scenes and telling moments of their powers as succubi appearing, both the good and the bad. There are consequences in this which give some interesting things to consider though the story and to see where that takes all of the characters too.
The work could use another editing pass, mostly in the dialogue as it’s a bit flat in tone and emotion. It feels a little monotone as a result and the narrative alone really isn’t strong enough to carry what seems to be lost as a result.
Three out of five pitchforks.
The work closes in a hopeful way that I think gives the characters and story the resolution that’s well deserved. I would have liked perhaps one more chapter to show a bit of their future and what came next. So dearly intriguing a story, if the artwork which appears from time to time might not reflect the story itself as well I it might have however. But that is a minor quibble overall, as the story does make up for that.
