Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on July 13, 2018
Seraphiel wished to become human, to find an end to her existence and discover what it meant to feel human. But things don’t work out that way and she finds herself fallen into the clutches of Asmodeus, who has plans of his own.
The work is a very short, in spite of the book length, erotic hot flash with a focus on dominance and submission with a bit of erotic heat around the edges to push the main character’s transformation to its conclusion. It’s very atmospheric, there’s quite a tapestry of character development and setting that is revealed and explored and I found that to be interesting.
It is very much on the harsher side of BDSM and at times it didn’t appeal to me because of that aspect. But overall the story flowed well, the battle between the main characters to the climax I thought was well done.
Asmodeus, called the demon of lust, can be thought of as an incubus with a scheme and a plan. He is very focused on that happening, there’s no respite for Seraphiel as a result. His powers, mind control, body control, and others, are very present in the story and they aren’t really over the top in that respect for the most part. But he does have an air of evil about him, it does add to his dominance, and he is somewhat unlikeable as well.
Three out of five pitchforks.
The close of the work tells of Seraphiel’s final fate, one that really was not a surprise from the appearance of Asmodeus. It’s a bit abrupt, a little disappointing really with all that came before in the story. A last reflection, though there is something of one to be seen, might have added a little more to the story and to Seraphiel herself.
