Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on April 19, 2019
Nikki is quite taken by Lilith when they meet and when she finds out that Lilith is a succubus, she’s even more intrigued. When her husband Wade is let into the secret, the trio become lovers and their entanglement leads to unexpected things.
The work mixes a current world setting with a succubus erotica theme which works really well to tie everything together. The characters are interesting, the story really never pauses and the heat in the erotica is delightful too. There are moments when the story goes off on a side tangent for a bit and then never really returns to it, the two minor succubi characters that appear are a good example of this. Still, it’s a fun read with a lot of promise and most of that comes through by the climax.
Lilith, the main succubus of the work, isn’t a classical or expected succubus in her nature. She’s something of an empath with the power of pheromones and her presence to draw others to her. She’s anything but evil, though the other succubi that appear are so very catty and I really didn’t enjoy that aspect of them. Lilith is a delight in her sexuality and the entanglements she has with Nikki and Wade which turns into desire and then a loving relationship that just worked so well for her character.
As much as I just adore this story in so many ways, the missing part of the puzzle in that of the succubi in this story universe. Yes there are hints and all, but there’s a lot left unsaid with regards to their society and so on. That would have been interesting to see more of, considering the appearance of the two minor succubi characters in the story.
Four out of five pitchforks.
The work ends in a place that works well and is really quite delightful. I feel like however that another chapter afterwards to tie up some loose ends would have been nice. If not that, then there really needs to be a follow on story to tell of what happened next and the entanglements the main characters fell into. That would be a lot of fun to see.
