Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on February 2, 2024

As this is a collection of works, and only two have succubus or incubus aspects, and a third touches on Lilith, they will be the focus of this review. The rating will be for the work as a whole.

The first work, has an incubus theme to it, and it’s a rather unique one both in setting and what happens within the story. Being so very short it’s feels like the opening to a larger story idea. t might be best to say this could be the opening chapter to the story as the characters are well defined and there is a mystery at the end of the story which could well be built on. Not really seduction nor is it really horror as well. Something of a jump scare perhaps is a good description.

A succubus is central to the second work, but once again it’s something of a jump scare and not really seductive as a whole. It is a complete story, the main character has their encounter and tells of what happens afterwards. But being extremely short again, there’s not time for really developing the characters or events beyond hints. It feels like more of a book summary in a way and drawing a larger story from this would be interesting to see.

The third work focuses on an appearance of Lilith, as such I would define this as being a succubus themed story. Again, a very short tale overall which even so had a lot of energy, character development and story to tell. Much like the prior work, it reads like a complete story but at the same time it leaves you wondering what might be. Again, basing a larger story on this work would be something to consider, especially if more focus was placed on Lilith herself than time was given for here.

Three out of five pitchforks.

The focus of the work is mainly towards horror and as such there’s really no sensuality or seduction overall. For those that enjoy quick little stories of horror, it’s an interesting read. However, has a work about succubi and incubi, it’s more of a hint of larger ideas and stories to consider.
