Plot Summary
A normal succubus feeds on a man's life force, killing him if she drains too much. But in this story, one young man meets a special kind of succubus who lures him in with her seductive powers. Instead of draining his life, she sucks away his masculinity -- and when she goes too far, he becomes a were-woman like her. This erotic and supernatural story reinvents mythology with a transgender twist.
This first-person story recalls the tale of an unforgettable sexual encounter with this succubus-type were-woman one fateful Halloween night. Fantasy/magical male-to-female transformation.
Book Review
The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on March 12, 2021
Sometimes one encounter leads to another that changes everything. A myth told over a drink leads into that myth becoming reality and one life left behind for the promise of something more.
The work overall isn’t so much about succubi than being about a gender transformation with a lot of sex mixed in along the way. While some parts were interesting, particularly the myths and legends the characters talked about in the beginning, overall there wasn’t a lot that I found appealing. It really shouldn’t have been that way, all things considered.
The story is written from the perspective of the main character, who’s name is never revealed, and the tone is very scattered overall. Perhaps it’s more accurate to say that they are expressing themselves in a college student mindset and I thought that made the story less interesting as things unfolded.
The succubus of the work, who really isn’t one as a whole, Sara, is interesting, but her tone in the story is as fleeting and while the myths she relates at the beginning are well told, it doesn’t take long before she turns somewhat porn in her tone and attitudes.
I think that’s where the problem is for me in this work. There really isn’t a lot of heat in the erotica, the gender transformation of the main character turns them into an adult movie star mindset. There’s almost no time between the transformation and the main character losing herself in a sex scene.
I honestly hoped for more time spent in dealing with her new life, the changes that come with it. There’s a good deal of storytelling that could come from that, but it just doesn’t appear. What’s more bothersome is how the story closes with a call back to the beginning of the work and what the main character does. It didn’t feel right, it didn’t make a lot of sense to me.
That brings me back to the main issue I have in that this isn’t really a story about succubi. It could have been, easily so. More time spent in telling the story to balance out the sex would have been nice to see. Not every gender transformation story has to turn the main character into something close to a sex starved bimbo. There’s better stories than that to be told.
Two and a half out of five pitchforks.
As a gender transformation story, there is some appeal. but as a succubus story I found things lacking. There’s something good in the story, but it’s hard to find it at times with the porn level erotica that keeps cropping up.
I think the characters could have been more and should have been.
