Plot Summary

Two years ago, Vincent and his friends took part in a forbidden ceremony to raise an incubus. This depraved ritual led to the death of Vincent's lover and best friend. Now, the demon is back for revenge, and only Vincent has the knowledge and power to stop it. He must fight the demon, while also protecting himself from Dante, a sadistic vampire lord out for blood.

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on October 7, 2022

Vincent has much to atone for, the events of his past haunting him every moment since. While a demon stalks around him, other pressing events and needs seek to consume and confuse. Perhaps the only way to find absolution is to face his fears and his lost love and condemn them both to the fires of hell.

The work is mainly a short m/m focused piece of erotica with a theme of magic and vampirism. Overall, the story telling is very rapid, leaving little time for consideration and reflection as events push on Vincent over and over again. Given the harsh themes and events of the story, the erotica is as much so. There’s really so very little passion as much as there’s a very strong BDSM and dominance theme overall.

The incubus of the work, Zaraned, is really not that present overall. The results of his actions appear, his appearance when it happens is fleeting and mainly serves to push the story towards the climax. Zaraned is more of a ghost of the past which haunts Vincent and gives a glimpse of the pain he carries within.

The story is written quite well, there’s an air of threat throughout, the dangers are tell told when they come calling. But as an incubus story it really isn’t much of one, though it is very much a vampire one.

I would have liked to know more of what happened to bring Zaraned to this world. More so, I wish there would have been more depth to his character overall. Being how impactful Zaraned is to the characters and the events that come, a short passage with him brooding would I think given the story something it’s missing.

Two and a half out of five pitchforks.

This isn’t a story focused on incubi, nor does it really delve into much with regards to that theme. As such while there is an incubus, being so tangential results in the review score from the subject matter that interests me. But it’s well written and those that seek out vampire stories with a m/m erotic theme will enjoy this work far more.
