Plot Summary

Martin is failing his studies at the Academy of Magic, and the coming exam is going to sink him entirely. Knowing that he needs assistance from elsewhere, Martin has an idea to summon a demon well-versed in magic. He hopes to trade with this infernal creature for its wisdom, a deal he believes will work out in his favor.

Unfortunately for Martin, his summoning goes awry, and the creature that steps through is definitely not a demon full of wisdom. Can Martin satisfy the demoness Thana, or will she snatch his soul before the end of the night?

Book Review

The following review was originally published by Tera on her Blog, A Succubi's Tale on February 13, 2024

Martin is in a world of problems and there doesn’t seem to be a way out of what awaits him. It’s a risk to use a book meant for summoning demons, it threatens his life, possibly his soul, or something far more dear. Still it’s worth the risk if he succeeds, but what he doesn’t expect is to summon Thana who isn’t what he expected, but might be what he needs. He might even pass that exam he dreads if he is very lucky indeed.

The work is mainly an erotic hot flash with a focus on domination that has mixed in a succubus theme as well. The world building at the beginning is interesting, the encounter between Martin and Thana is delightfully fun in many ways. The pages leading through Thana’s domination of Martin are quite well done and at times brought an amused smile which I enjoyed.

Once the erotica begins, the telling of Thana’s manipulation of Martin’s will, her control over him and his eventual fall to her domination was delightfully fun. Towards the end of the story it felt however like the work was rushing to the climax, in many ways, and I wish it hadn’t done so. It felt like something was missing, the heat was a bit less than it otherwise was.

Thana, the succubus of the work, is really far more interesting than the story really had a chance to explore. It feels like she’s very powerful and beyond that, her own story is one that I wonder about. The question that comes is one of what she wants now that she knows Martin really has no hold over her. What comes next, or who for that matter, amuses me as much as I expect it does Thana.

Thana is something of a cypher which I’d like to see explored in a follow on work. Being where she is, and that really nothing could stop her from doing what she wanted, it seems like a story that could be told to see what happens with the rest of Martin’s world. I don’t think she’s evil as such, which makes that idea all the more interesting. Perhaps that’s something to think about.

Three out of five pitchforks.

This really feels like the start of a larger series, though I don’t expect to see one. The close of the work leaves a door open for both of the characters to explore and that would be fun. Perhaps Thana becomes involved in Martin’s college and where that would take things is something to ponder.
